viewing info when capturing

Hi
I am using VS 9, and when i try to capture i can see the info window below the preview screen.
I would like to see all the information but the second line should show the bit rate.

As you can see from the image this portion is hidden.
The top two on the right also arear lacking.

Is it just my system, do you see this info.

Hi Trevor.

I recently switched from a 15" monitor to a 17". I was amazed to discover things now "appeared" which formerly had not even been seen (nor suspected). So could this thing of yours be due to monitor size? I cannot help you because I do my captures on a computer with small screen.

Does your monitor support any higher resolutions than you are currently using? Even if it flickers or is hard to read for long periods of time, I would try switching briefly just to see if the information you are looking for appears.

Hi
I have a 19in Hansol 900p monitor.

I have just tried at max size 1600 x 1200
I have been using 1280 x 1024
I can also view the tool bar.

The screen view is below, but still does not show all the information.

What do you see when capturing? Can you see the bit-rate in 8000kb/s.

When i use VS 8 I see all the info.

Thanks Trevor

I can't check right now since I'm at the office, and at home I capture using DV as the source. Is your Preview window maximized? Try hitting the icon below the lower-right corner of the Preview window, that will change the layout of the display and may give the information panel enough room to display the bitrate.

I note you have a double Taskbar at the bottom of screen, and am assuming that it is fixed in place. I wonder if that has anything to do with it... I use the facility to hide the Taskbar and only have it show when I move my mouse down to the bottom of screen. (Right click Taskbar, then check the box near the top 'Auto hide the taskbar'.)

Hi Ken and All

When capturing I always double check my settings, VS does not seem the most stable of things when it comes to setting properties. Having the info window introduced in V8 was a god send.

V9 does not show all the info on my system, I have to go through ‘Options’ purely to check my settings, especially the bit rate.( a bit of a pain )

True you can see my pc’s taskbar to the bottom of the screen . But this is only because I have a 19in monitor.
Using VS 9 when capturing to mpeg / Dvd, the info’ lines do not display correctly, I cannot identify the bit rate nor can I see the audio rate. see image below

Using VS 8 when capturing to mpeg / Dvd all the information is displayed. See image below

Is this just my setup or do you see the same.

If the problem is Video Studio then I will report to tech support, otherwise I will investigate my system further. I believe it was the same with the trial version.

What do you see?

With thanks Trevor

Hi Trevor,
Your post sparked my curiosity, as I generally will check my settings using the Menu prior to capturing. So I looked at this screen and surprisingly it was just like yours, the second line is not completely displayed. However I discovered that if it mouseover it, a tooltip will appear displaying the rest of the info...

I am using a an HP Pavilion 1703 (17") monitor at 1280 x 1024, my highest setting..

Hi

Thanks for that videoman
I am also using 1280 x 1024.

And the tool tip works, I had tried floating the mouse but may not have been patient enough.
The first attempt seems to be slow to respond????

At least i know it is probably the software and not my system,

cheers

FYI, I'm using 1600x1200 resolution on a 21" monitor with VS9 and I see the same lost information that's truncated on the right. BUT ... just leave your mouse cursor on top of any field and all the info will be displayed. And I really didn't have to wait long, maybe 2 seconds.
