Using Video 8 sony capture

I have a Sony TR110 when I connect this to my computer using a firewire cable 1364 the computer does not recognise the the camera. I look in the device manager and my web cam is there but no sony camera the camera is set in the player position and Ulead 8 is the application is set to capture.... can any one help me

Got to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager, and check whether the IEEE 1394 controller appears in the list of devices. It must furthermore not have a yellow or red icon next to it, which would indicate a problem with the device's drivers or hardware.

I realise Idid not explain myself very well, I have looked in the device mangers list under 1394 imaging the sony is not there at all only my webb cam.
I have double checked the firewire lead and this is working perfectly it would appear that the camera is not being recognised by windows XP? any clue there.
