VSX5 Stops a second or 2 from end of project?

Hi,

I have been doing this project in X5 and was putting a still picture at the end. When I review the project it stops about a second or so from the end. I thought it was the song, so I took that out.
I changed the picture, did the same thing. I lengthen the time on the picture, it will place and stop about the same time from the end. Doesn't matter how long the picture is playing.
If I take the picture out, the video just before it plays fine. I put a picture back in, and it does the same thing?
I thought the project time may be set someplace? Doesn't seem to matter because I change the timing on the picture at the end.

In Project mode, does your timeline have an orange line over it, as in the image below? If so, drag the right hand orange trim marker right to the very end of the line. The orange line should then disappear and in theory at least, you should now be able to render the full length of the project.

In theory, I do see the marker no matter what I do it is still there?
If I delete the last picture it will play the vid to the end, when I put
a pic there, no matter how long it is, still stops before the end

What if you add a black colour board after the picture?

It will go past the last picture but still stop a second more or less before the end of the project.
Maybe I will have to redo it, would like to know so I am playing around some more with it.

I just went back and started with a new project and brought one of there movie files down, added a still picture and it still
stopped at about a second before?

Still playing with it, it is about 2 seconds, no matter if I start a new one wherever the bar is, it will stop about 2 secs from the end of
the scrubber bar, even if I move it?

Hi Bruce

This does seem a little strange.

If you place a black Colour clip at the end of the project it should then play the full image and stop on the Black.
If this works it would be a work-round.
You could even add a X-Fade transition.

Bruce if you use the navigation controls below the preview screen you can click the “End” button that will go to the end of the project, where does that take the curser?

I am wondering if it could of been one of the last updates, no way to talk to tech support after 90 days. I tried but I get no send button after the end of the tech request.

I put a black box it still does the same thing, even with a fade to black at the end. If I use the navigation controls and click the end, it will go right to the end.
Not sure if you saw in the edit, if I start a new project even with one picture in it, the program will do the same thing?
I had done a project not too long ago, and it was fine.

Hi Bruce

Odd very odd, can you provide a screen shot of the timelines.
You are using Video Studio X5 Start a new project.
Can you do this……

1 / Add an image to the timeline, use the first image from the library I01, the “sun flowers”
2 / Set the duration to 12 seconds
3 / Set the timeline view to “Fit Project in Timeline window” (the ion adjacent to the + and – signs.
4 / use the End button to move the curser to the far right
5 / does the curser go to the end.
6 / take a screen shot---pressing keyboard “Prt Sc” will copy the window to the clipboard, paste into an image editor and save the image, attach to your post.

Well I figured where it was
The clip will play fine,
but when you go to the project it will not

You do not show your PC specification, can you update your forum profile to include your computer details.

2 / Running the EXE file will extract files, create a folder on your desktop to hold these files.
3 / Then locate DXSETUP.exe, run that file.

Are you upto date with Windows Updates

Oh by the way –Go to Preferences (F6) Change the Display Clip Mode as “Thumbnail only”, that will display the full image in the timeline

Up to date with everything, windows 8 comp. 16 megs of ram.
Video card had 4 or more 4 on the ram.
processor is 2. something.

\Is their a factory reset for the program? It seems to have started after one of their automatic updates?
That link doesn't say windows 8 comp.

I have tried displaying in both modes. The clip will play fully in clip mode, not in project.
If I insert the clip it will play, but if I lengthen the clip it will stop. If I repeatedly hi the play button the clip will play 3 or 4 times too .02 second intervals and stop
before the end. I will recheck updates and the direct x, but I do not recall any problems before the last update or 2.
I am sure their is no way to roll back those updates from corel, or notify them that they may have a problem with an update.

Hi Bruce

Not sure about your reference to Factory Reset and a recent update, I assume you mean Video Studio not Windows update.
SP2 does correct some faulty links in the library but as far as I know does not reset the program.
The details below are from the Knowledge base, it does not mention W8 but will do the same, it will however reset the library, so if you need the library as is, back it up first.

To be honest I do not think the reset will change anything but probably worth a go.

Interesting that you are using Windows 8, seems to be a few issues there.

hi,

Did send and email to tech support, found out I did have time (at least I think) from the time I registered.

I opened a project I did about a month ago, and now it does the same thing. Yes I was talking about VSx5.
I am sure it is something simple. I am going to check make sure Flash is all updated.
See what happens, still waiting to hear from tech support.

I don't think I had any issues till it updated itself a few days ago. I was wondering when the library resets will it clean all the files out? the movie files that are in the folder? Should I copy them or will they remain and just not show up in the library? I am at kind of a quandary as what too do. Like I said in the last post; the last project which was ok I opened and now is doing the same thing so the only cause I can see is a small update corel did?
