Pro X4: Previewing Chapters - menu not showing up

I use VS Pro X4 sporadically, but I seem to recall that when previewing my work before burning a DVD, I was able to see my chapter's/menu's that I created - in the Adding/Editing Chapter option. I would then click on their remote control and select/test out my "links" before burning a disc. I must be doing something wrong because when I choose Preview, my main screen custom menu doesn't appear.

If I play around a bit, I can select "Top Menu" on the remote and click a number - which brings me to the chapter (but again, I can see my main menu/chapter screen - the screen that would appear when someone loads my DVD to play it). Frustrating - but I'm a novice user.

Hi John

And welcome to the forums

For each video you add to the burner module a link/thumbnail is created on the Main/Title menu.

Each Title can have Chapters added, this will create a Sub menu aka Chapter menu.
During editing the menus, immediately below the preview screen is an option Currently Displayed Menu, this allows you to select and edit the chapter menus.

OK

When you use the Preview option the Main/Title menu should show first.
Clicking a Title will open the Chapter menu for that Title
Selecting a chapter will play the video.

I checked your instructions and everything looks like it should. I still can't see anything on the Preview screen though. Here are my settings:

On the Add Media page I've selected Create Menu
I've added chapters by using the jog shuttle
I then click on <OK>
It then brings me to the same screen, but without my chapters visible - where I click on <NEXT>
I've set up my background music and am using a Thumbnail background option
Under Advanced Settings I've selected only Create Chapter Menu
My Currently Displayed Menu defaults to my one menu and is "Grayed out" - can't select/deselect

So, then I click on Preview - the "remote control" screen pulls up and my music plays, but the screen is blank / I can't see my main menu and select my individual chapters. I can, however, click on a number on the remote control which brings me to the chapters. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. This worked for me about a year ago - should be easier to diagnose.

Hi John

Whilst creating the Chapter points do you see the timeline populated by the thumbnails that represent the chapters? I guess yes................

The “Currently Displayed Menu” words immediately below the preview screen, they are somewhat greyed out but should be active.
Please try clicking the grey words.

This should allows you to view/edit the Sub/Chapter menus.

Clearly you have set the chapter menu given that you can view them via the remote.
