solid text
I've read prior posts on how to make text sold, but I'm so much a beginner that I don't understand the suggestions. Can anyone baby sit me through the process?

Re: solid text
You just need to make sure the background color on the materials palette is turned on, and set to a solid color.
Here is the materials palette. If it's not visible you can show it by going to the view menu -> Palettes -> Materials
Underneath each block of color you'll see three buttons. These are Type, Texture, and Transparency.
In this picture the background color is "white" if your materials palette shows a circle with a line through it instead of a solid color click on the highlighted button. (The last one on the right) This is the transparency button and it turns the color on or off.
If the color is a gradient or a pattern instead of a solid color. click on the first button and it'll let you select from one of three types (Solid, Pattern, Gradient) the circle icon should be self-explanatory.
The middle button turns on textures. A texture uses a black and white image to create custom transparent looks. If this is pressed, click on it again to remove the texture.
The foreground color (black in this image) is the stroke around your text. You can turn it off by turning on transparency for the foreground color or by setting the stroke width to zero if you don't want the stroke.
Finally, make sure you're actively editing the text and have the text selected when you go changing the colors, it won't do it automatically.
Don't know if they'll help but here are some old youtube videos on a few of the basic tools in PSP: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL ... re=mh_lolz
