Video fade in VS9

Post by mdidonato »

Hello,

I just downloaded the trial version and I am taking it for a spin. I was not able to find a way to apply a Video fade in transition at the beginning of my clip. Is there anyway to do this?

Are there ways to add transitions to the beginning and end of clips instead of just between clips?

A video clip cannot fade in from "nothing", nor can it fade out to "nothing". Insert a color clip (usually black, but doesn't have to be) before and/or after your clip. You can then add a transition between the color clip and your video clip.

Thanks that makes sense, I just discovered the color chip options.

another way is use the brightness/contrast filter and start at brightness zero, growing to 100 after the number of seconds needed and then remaining at 100 for the rest of the duration.
Conversely from 100 to zero for fade out.
