Audio Format Unsupported - Pls Help

Post by Patch »

Hi Board, I am hoping someone, anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong. I am currently on X6, but have had every version prior produce the same problem. When I create a Video File using the "Custom" avi (Xvid) option, it doesn't matter which Audio format and setting I select ( and I have tried them all !) when I play the file on my TV ( Panasonic - New) I get a message that the Audio file is unsupported, and there is no audio.

Can you tell us how you try to play the video on your TV - is this via a DVD or a direct link of some kind ?

Do you get sound when playing the video on your computer.

Hi

Can we assume that the TV does support Xvid.
Have you tried DivX or maybe MP4

Hey Guys, thanks so much for the consideration........I'm creating a file and running it off a USB. If I chose any of the "standard" options such as mpeg and wmw it works fine........but I want to create an avi using the Xvid compression. It seems to be best video quality......except I can't find an audio setting that works with it.

The video plays........just no sound ????

Hi

I would have thought a mpeg Transport Stream would give the best quality, but not the smallest file size. As you know save as Mpeg

Xvid
Have you tried MpegAudio Layer 2.
PCM should also work
AC3 being another option I would try.

But we cannot give anything specific as it depends on your TV

If you gave the original video files properties maybe someone can recommend conversion settings, but you seem to be trying most things.

Can we assume that you are plugging the USB drive directly into your TV? If so, does your TV's manual indicate that it can play XVid/DivX directly like that? Most HDTV's are only set to play AVCHD or mpeg that way, and yours could be one of them -- although you say you can also play WMV. Otherwise, you need to plug the USB drive into a DVD player or Blu-Ray player which is connected to your TV...

Thanks again for the response and apologies for the delay in responding.

Just to quickly explain. When creating a Video file under "3 Share" - "Create Video File". If I choose ANY of the options above the "Custom" option....that is, DV, HDV, DVD, Blue-Ray, AVCHD, WMV, MPEG-4, Ultra-HD........all these options produce file which play both video and sound on my TV.
If I choose "Custom"......"Microsoft AVI files (*.avi)"........."Options".........AVI tab........Compression - Xvid MPEG-4 codec..........
Then it doesn't seem to matter which Audio Format I choose, I get a video which plays on my TV, but with no sound. I have tried most Audio Format options, but not all "Attributes" options.......could this be it ?......if so, which do I pick ?

I want the Xvid option as it produces a good size file at 30fps.........if I fall back to a non-custom MPEG-4 option.....I only get 25 fps, and a largish file

Hi

Are you sure your TV does supports Xvid video?

As for Mpeg4, choose the Custom option and set your own sizes including 30fps
Using make Movie Templates manager you can create your own template.
