VideoStudio Pro X6 Ultimate - No Smart Sounds?

Hi,
I have a problem. My new Pro X6 doesn't show me the Smart Sounds. You can't klick something in the smartsound window!
I also have installed Pro X4, and here I have all smartsounds!

Where is the problem

Were you connected to the internet when you tried to access the Smart Sounds in VideoStudio? I had no Smart Sounds, but then a message popped up and wanted me to allow downloading of Smart Sounds.

yes I was.
I installed X6 now on an other PC where also is X4 installed and here I have the smartsounds??

You may need to uninstall and then reinstall VideoStudio to get SmartSounds working. But before doing that, you can try clearing the cache, check for updates, and rebuild the SmartSound database. After clicking the Auto Music button, click the SmartSound Quicktracks button:

I've found that when uninstalling other applications that also use Smartsounds to NOT uninstall Smartsounds when prompted. That causes problems later when installing other applications. At one point I had to uninstall all applications that used Smartsound and then install them all again. Ever since I have never uninstalled SmartSounds, and I haven't had any problems.

Reminder: You need Quicktime installed for SmartSounds to work.

Hi,
It seems there is several people with this issue.
I have been in contact with Corel support for a few days now and went through several reinstallations.
Most recently I restored my Laptop (Win8 Pro 64bit) from a backup to a clean state with just Win8, I made sure I have a local User Account and Quicktime installed and updated, without any luck.
I had the same situation with the trial of X5 and was hopefull X6 would not have the problem and thus went ahead and purchased.

When I install VideoStudio X3 SS works there and also SonicFire Pro works fine.

Any new ideas ?

Certainly the Quick Tracks and Smart Sound do not appear to be installed.
Yet you say you have X4 on the same PC with Smart Sound working.???

I assume you purchased the program from Corel, some earlier programs especially downloads were supplied with two files at about 800Mb each, the full version being 1.4Gb, If you have smaller files one will be a Contents.exe file, this should be installed to complete the installation of the program.

Saying that I think X6 is one file at 1.4 Gb
Can you access the Corel Guide and Check for Updates.
Some updates may be associated with the Smart Sound installer.

Unfortunately I do not run Windows 8 so difficult to replicate your problem.
Using XP the installation files are extracted and saved to the C/Drive
I found the Smart Sound installation files here
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 Setup Files\Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 Setup Files\Setup\RunTime\Quicktracks5Installer

Maybe try running the Setup.exe
I tried this and was given an option to Modify, Repair or Remove

I would suggest to uninstall smartsound and reinstall again, have you tried it already?
You can find the Smartsound (2 items) in Add/remove, please remove both of them and try to install them again.
The source of Smartsound is in \Setup\RunTime\Quicktracks5Installer and \Setup\RunTime\CommonDataInstaller

SmartSound greyed out with VS-X6 with Windows 8 Pro and VS-X5 that used to work. I have reinstalled VS and tried repair, reinstalled SmartSound Quicktracts 5.18 and common library with files from VS setup and from SmartSound website, reinstalled Apple QuickTracts (several versions 7.xx), rebooting before each reinstall, etc. Everything else in VS X5-6 works fine. Old projects with smartsound tracts load with blank (white) audio track.

Does anyone have any suggestions other than reinstall Windows 8?

No Smart Sounds problem....I, too, have this problem and have been working with customer support. In my case, there is a conflict between windows 8 and VS X5. I was unable to resolve this conflict by reinstalling or other means. Customer support engineering is addressing the problem and I expect this is a problem with many windows 8 installations and it may just be a matter of time before customer support supplies a patch to resolve the conflict. (incidentally, I installed a trial version of X6 and had the same problem). For more information, see the thread "Automusic Grayed Out".
