Quick Time: The Quick Time I have installed is called for during the normal VS install process. I simply selected the install and followed the instructions. If there is an alternate way to install, I can do it to eliminate the possibility of file corruption or incompatibility.
Hi Dutch

As far as I know Corel no longer provide a Quick Time installer since X5.
I may however be wrong.
I do recall a user with a new Laptop installed X5 but not QuickTime, same issues as you.

Go to your Program and Features aka Add and Remove Programs and check for QuickTime, ignore anything called QuickTracks that’s part of Smart Sound.
You should also see an entry in Start -- Programs—QuickTime

Then go here
http://www.apple.com/uk/quicktime/download/

It refers to Windows 7, if it’s the wrong version then the install will/should terminate giving details.

You do need to confirm that QuickTime is installed on your system........

And just to be even more precise, in Control Panel > Programs and Features, Quicktime is listed under Q for Quicktime, whereas Quicktracks is listed under S for SmartSound Quicktracks... (that's of course presuming that Win 8 has the same Control Panel options as Win 7...)

I should also note that I totally agree with Trevor, that Quicktime is not part of the X6 installation package. We commented on that during the beta testing process and were told by Corel that it was a deliberate decision on their part to no longer include it, and to leave it to users to do so.

I am surprised that I haven't gotten better support from Corel on the problem. Other than the initial responses, I've heard nothing more, even though I've continued to email asking for further support. This forum has been helpful in eliminating some of the possible reasons why Automusic is grayed out.

Since my last post, I have uninstalled all Corel, SmartSound, and Apple software, removed all folders referring those files and reinstalled VS Pro X5, and Quicktime 7.73.80.64. The SmartSound QuickTrack and common data installs appear to have executed properly and the files seem to be there. Prior to the complete uninstall and reinstall, I tried the "repair" option on VS X5 disk...but no difference. This problem appears to be deeper than just a "Reinstall" fix. So far, all of the other features of X5 seem to be working OK, but, in truth, I haven't done much editing as I'm spending my time trying to get everything functional. Any other suggestions?

Hi

We have another user having problems with running proDad.
We have not specifically asked if she is having problems with Auto Music.

If you are installing the Ultimate version, can you try the prodad filters from the FX filter library. Is there any problems.

Dutch have you tried Check for updates from the Corel Guide, some updates are usually installed when you first select the auto music tab.

Hi,
The Auto music topic is also discussed in the following Thread
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... x6#p266838

Personally I have been attempting to resolve the problem with the auto music greyed out for a bit more than a week now.
Corel Support has been helpfull, but none of the proposed solutions or reinstall variants has helped.

My case is now with their Level 2 Support, though havent received any updates in the past few days.

Other applications work fine with the Smartsound libraries, so this would mean the issue is not with Smartsound nor Quicktime.
I suspect it to be as simple as a registry or config file problem related to the plugin, though am not sure how that can be different in Win 7 (works) or Win 8 (greyed out).

Does anyone have an idea what are the main differences in a Win 7 or win 8 installation?
If not then I plan to reinstall win 7 on the same machine and compare registry, directory content etc to my current win 8 installation.

Henk

Hi All,
Finally got it working:
Here is what I did
- a clean install of Win 8 Pro (64 bit)
- applied all windows updates
- installed Quicktime.
- Downloaded the Video studio again.
- Restarted PC
- Installed Video Studio X6 Ultimate
- Another PS Restart
- Started VideoStudio.
- Clicked SS button
--> SUCCESS, Smart sound update popup appears

I still dont have any idea why it worked now and dont recommend to clean install the PC.

Either way I will update Corel Support, lets see if they figure it out

Rgds,
Henk

Henk, I think you are on the right track with regard to the "glitch" with Win 8 & Automusic Grayed Out....and hope you will post the solution. Like you, I tried the install on a win 7 machine and automusic worked fine. I do not have the Ulitmate version....and thus don't have the prodad (although it might have been loaded with trial version of X6, which also had the Gray Out condition). At some point in the reinstalls, I did try the update, but I seem to recall that no updates were installed....some message that no updates were found...or something like that. I have refrained from adding any further plug-ins, effects, etc, so as to not complicate the situation. It would be interesting to see a post which noted the changes in the Win 8 registry needed for X5 so that I could check the registry for compliance. I did receive an email from support this morning....it was the same as the first email that I received....although from a different person.

Henk...Glad to hear you've resolved the problem. I'll have to wait for the registry or other fix from Corel as a reinstall of Win 8 is not an option for me. Also, I noticed that there is now an SP-2 update for X5 which I will do tonight.

Hi

I have looked at the Corel site regarding an update for X5, don’t see any available.
Can you provide a link?

It is unusual that Corel provide patches once a new version has been released.

I simply checked for updates and the reply was Service Pack 2 for X5. I don't have a link....simply chose check for updates on the X5 help menu. I doubt this will resolve my problem, but you never know.

All very curious, Trevor. When I checked on Corel.com (signed into my account), only SP1 for X5 is shown. But when I opened X5 itself and checked for updates, it does indeed show a small SP2 as being available, which I have now downloaded and installed. The new version number is 15.2.0.10 whereas with SP1 it was 15.1.0.34...

Hi Ken

Strange indeed, I now see the download available from Check for Updates.
As a few hours ago it was not there.
Still no sign of it from the Corel Patches and Update site.

Not sure about the Facebook reference but the Library linkage issue was fixed with X6, nice to see Corel have backdated to fix X5
Will update later..........

Installed the SP-2 update on the win 8 computer....as expected, did not solve the problem. Does anyone have a link for registry entries to check for VS Pro X5? That seems to be my next step. Also, I noticed in Henk's post that he installed QuickTime before X5....that's grasping at a straw, but worth a try.

Hi,
Another Sidenote to my successfull installation of VS X6 Ultimate in Win8, this was also the first time that no Plugin Errors came when starting VS after the ultimate package installation.

I realized there was another thing I did different then before, besides the reinstalll on Win 8.
so If someone still has the problem with the Automusic could they attempt a reinstall of videostudio but then ensure to reboot the pc after each stage or atleast before the first start of VS.
Even better do an audit Before each Restart so that you can compare them and find the delta.
I used http://winaudit.zymichost.com/winauditu.zip as suggested by corel support.

Hi

As we are grasping at straws, can you check Windows Updates Optional, for any updates to your Graphics driver
I had a long standing issue with my Leverno laptop and X5 but Windows 7, I did not run the prodad plugins so do not know if there was a problem, but here are the details.
http://lata.me.uk/corel/lenovo/lenovo.htm

and Henk as you re-installed the operating system you would have re-done windows updates
