VideoStudio X6 Trial Version Concerns

Post by mcfallison »

I would really like to love the new VSX6 but I am having doubts. Maybe someone can help/console.

I can't import video from DVD. The program freezes.
I can't get multilayer Paint Shop Pro (pspimage) graphics to come into the timeline in different layers using PSP X5 trial.
I tried to import an MPEG video captured by a KWorld ATSC stick- the program freezes.

I have VSX4 and did not upgrade to 5 because of shortcomings in that trial version.

Is it just me?

I haven't tried a DVD yet, but I have used a Diamond One-Touch Video Capture V500 USB device to capture from my camcorder in VCR mode. I have a KWorld device that won't work correctly in VS. And yes to PaintShop X5 layers, although I seemed to have trouble with the first 3 files I tried. After that I seemed to get the hang of it. Are you right-clicking on the photo in the library and selecting Insert to Video Track?

I have had no problems importing from a DVD.

Are you trying to copy a commercial DVD with copyright protection - or a DVD you or a friend made.

Yes. I tried right-clicking and just dragging to the timeline. Each time the software displays a message saying it is limited to 21 layers. I press "layers" but only one layer appears in the timeline.

Strange. I installed VSX4 tonight to see if it would import from DVD and it did. So I tried it again with X6 trial version and it worked. I suspecting my DVD drive is a possible problem. But X6 worked.

I tried importing a long mpeg from a capture with the KWorld stick and, again, no problem now.

I still cannot get a 2-layer pspimage to come into the timeline as layers.

I don't understand. Did installing the X4 version make a difference?

That's the problem I initially had. I have no idea what made it start working all of a sudden.

Are the layers all raster layers? Those are the only layers that seemed to work for me.

One layer was a title that had been rasterized.

Thanks Kingston. Your post got me to thinking and I made another pspimage with three raster layers and the import worked.

My mistake must have been using text as a raster layer. Or I didn't convert the vector layer when I thought I did.

I appreciate the help from you guys on the board!
