Preview is still terrible

Post by aj327 »

One of the reasons I jumped ship from VSP 5 to final cut pro was that the preview playback was horrible on VSP5. Looks like things haven't changed with version 6. Whenever anything gets complicated - multiple overlay tracks etc, the preview starts getting so bad that I have to restart the program. It works OK for about 5 previews before it starts getting buggy again (stuttering with the video and audio so that it's uneditable because I don't know what I'm looking at). I have smart proxy enabled but this doesn't help any. My computer is an absolute monster designed specifically for video editing so this shouldn't be happening (24gb of RAM, hexacore processor, dual video cards, etc). Any advice?
