Video studio9/ motion thumbnail change....

Post by durden »

Hi,

I am trying to change motion menus. It always reverts back to the beginning of the clip. I click on the thumbnail and change it by moving the jog slider, then press OK. I preview what the thumnail looks like in "Preview motion menu" but it doesn't change! I don't want it to be the first 30 seconds of the clip, I want another part of the clip motion thumbnail, how can I change it? I burned it anyway hoping it would be different, but it look like it did in the "Preview motion menu"......please help!

Thanks in advance!

Sorry -- you can't change it: though I too am more than willing to be proved wrong on this one. It is, I suppose, a step forward from the static menu thumbnails of VS 8, but...

It's so, I'm sorry!! You need Movie Factory 4 or DVD Workshop or some other third party program to do what you want. And it's one reason why I seldom use the burning module of VS 8 or 9.

Do you know if I get movie factory 4, whether or not I can put titles, and background music like I can in studio9? Basicly what i want to use it for is old programs I have already recorded on DVD, and author them with soundtracks on main menu, personalised thumbnails, personailsed clips, and a background clip of my choosing. I can make my own background clip on studio9, but not thumbnails. Should I have bought moviemaker 4 instead?...... since you have both.....

VS 9 and Movie Factory 4 are opposite sides of the same coinm as it were. VS 9 is primarily an editing program which has some authoring/production touches added. Movie Factory, on the other hand, is primarily an authoring/production program which has some editing features added. The production features in it are more sophisticated and numerous than they are in VS 9. Have a look at the Ulead web site to see all the features and then make up your mind if you want it.

I just got bit by this one too. The beginning of a clip isn't often the best place from which to extract the 30 seconds of menu video. I'm going to post a separate "suggestion" messge so that ULead might see it.

DVD Movie Factory 4 does it, and for you it's only a $35 upgrade.
