I just downloaded the Trial version of 8.5. However, the program won't run. I checked that I have the correct parameters (I run Win98), and everything is fine.
When I start the program, I hear the warning bell, but no error message shows up. It locks up my computer and I have to crash the system. Yes, I re-started the machine before starting.
I don't want to run out of my 15 days before getting this to work!
What am I forgetting to check, do, etc?
Thanks in advance,

Dear Kathy:
Please check if there is any video/audio CODEC packs like XviD or Nimo installed in your system. If so, remove them and then try again. (You can use AVICodec to know how many CODECs are installed in your system.
If this does not fix, rename the [PhotoExplorer install path]\VIO\uvAVI.vio to any other file name like uvAVI.bak and then start PhotoExplorer to try again.
Hope this helps.

third solution
Dear Kathy,
Ah, I have the same problem. Also Win98SE. The two suggestions of H.T. didn't work for me, but the suggestions indicated a third way: just rename the [PhotoExplorer install path]\VIO directory in something else, for instance [PhotoExplorer install path]\_VIO. I don't know if something else won't work then, but starting and photo editing worked alright for me then.
Is Ulead testing their PE on Win98 platforms?
God Bless,
