Hi,
Below are the links to the Ulead configuration files the way they
are installed on a laptop.
Under "All Users" the "Application Data" is a hidden directory.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\3.0

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\8.0

Is your laptop running Windows XP?

I don't have anything under all users, only under my name and I have the Show all hidden folders with no success.

When I go to the Ulead under my username in My Computer, all I get are PAL and NTSC Dat files.

Under Windows Explorer, same location, I still get the PAL and NTSC dat files.

Under Program Files in Windows Explorer, there are .dll's, the same dat files and a bunch of folders that are:

Background
device
fio
music
player
plugin
ppp
template
video
vio

I checked all those folders and still no ini files.

Maybe the ini files are in 3.0, I'm running 2.0 and have 3.0 but I'm hesitant to upgrade (install) out of fear of losing my capturing priveleges, hehe, I see it as a privelege when it works these days.

Maybe if you do a search of the harddrive.
On my system under the user name applications directory is also
settings for Ulead. They appear to be my most recent settings.
Their are other ini's under the "All Users > Application Data" directory.

So, on my system their are actually 2 different directories with
configuration files (they seemed mirrored but different).
The same is true on my desktop system.

I know that when I change a setting in the .ini files located in the "All Users" directory the change does show up in the program.

Maybe perform a search for some of the config files for VS8 and see if
any other directories show up.

Search for:
uvs.ini
CapMod.ini
HerCap.ini

Hope this helps,

I had the same problem,I down loaded the DVD Fix Download from the Tech FAQ,from the home page,"How do I make Videostudio 7 support my ADS Insant DVD" and the next one,all the same except for "DVD 2",I down loaded them both,my capture came back, also check to see that in Videostudio, that you're plug-in setting is correctly set, mine wasn't,Go to File, upper left corner, drop menu, goto Change Capture Plug-in,when the box opens, use the dropdown menu, and make sure that you have it set to ADS Insant DVD USB2 Capture Plug-in.
Hope this helps,I had the exact problem, and this fixed it,without hurting any other capture devices.

I did a search for the uvs.ini file and it brought up a uvs.dat file in my Video Studio but do I really want to back up the file in my Video Studio if that's the program not working? It's the Movie Factory that's working while the video studio that isn't.

I don't think the patch will work, I downloaded that back when I was using Video Studio 7 and it damaged my Video Studio 7 so I had to uninstall and reinstall and was forced to get 8 so I could capture again. I'm really not willing to give up my capture priveleges. I've gone 8 months without any program working so this is a blessing although I can't capture in Video Studio. Plus this program was working up until my dad changed the drives, it has nothing to do with the ADS capture card.

So I'm back to wondering why would I want to preserve Video Studio when it's messed up. I think I'll update Movie Factory tonight and hope that it doesn't mess anything up, who knows, maybe VS8 will suddenly start working again.
