Corel does not care about its customers
I purchased Corel VS X5 on the 23rd January. about 6 weeks later they released X6 which I can assure you did not make me happy. They obviousley knew that a new version was about to be released and they could have either let me know before purchasing X5 or give me a free upgrade to X6 as M$ does with Windows. I rang Corel TWICE and both times I was assured I would receive a return call. That NEVER happened. I did receive an email informing me that Corel in their ultimate act of generosity would give me a 5% discount on the upgrade price A staggering $3.45 BIG BLOODY DEAL. I am afraid Corel has lost me as a future customer. This company does not care about its customers. As long as they pay up their hard earned cash that is all they want.

They upgrade their software at around this time every year.
There is not much difference between VS5 and VS6 anyway, just wait for one of their periodic discount deals and get the upgrade then if you want, or next february get VS7.

Re: Corel does not care about its customers
I bought the X5 Ultimate with Bonus Effect Download package in January as well. I downloaded the trial of X6 Ultimate and there is a lot more difference between the two versions then I had first thought. I don't agree with the $79.99 price to upgrade to the similar X6 package. Under the circumstances I would agree more so with a $40.00 upgrade difference. Who knows maybe Corel will realize the importance of customer satisfaction. I have been upgrading version with Corel since 2009 and this is the 1st time I have an issue with their fee structure. I have 30 days left on the trial I down loaded late last night. Hopefully there will be some revisions between now and then.
Btw, I have only worked with a couple of the new features and they are impressive and fun to mess around with.

Re: Corel does not care about its customers
Depending on where you live, you could always try getting in touch with the Corel sales people. In the past, they have shown some sympathy to users in your position who bought a version just before a new version was released. I don't work for Corel, however, so cannot say for certain what they might do this time round; nor do I know what sort of time limit they might impose between the date of purchase of the earlier version and the release date of the new one...

Ken I did try and ring Corel. First time I spoke to some person who statedd that the Slaes staff dont into 10 am local time and they will get them to ring me....NEVER HAPPENED. So I rang again 16 mins waiting on the phone for sales listening to how important a customer I am and then I get Tech support because the ONLY Sales person was in a meeting. Tech support stated that the Slaes staff would ring as soon as they were out of the meeting. NEVER HAPPEND (again) However they did email me and that is when they really insulted me by offering a 5% discount off the upgrade price a staggering $3.45 discount.
I trust Corel may read this and rethink their customer relations or else reply to my less than enthusiastic email I replied to the sales staff.
We shall see. I just feel like I have been ripped off. And if they do release an upgrade every Feb they should at least advise anyone muying around that time that a new one will be out shortly.
And there are plenty of other software companies out their who would appreciate my dollars

Re: Corel does not care about its customers
Well I must apologise to Corel for all my dark thoughts. After a bit of back and forth communications Corel came to the party and offered me a 50% discount on the upgrade which I consider reasonable. So anyone else in the same situation of buying VSX5 around the endof JAnuary I suggest asking Corel for a similar discount
It is appreciated that a company does listen to reason. I still think that Corel should do what M$ does and offer a free upgrade if a product is purchased within close proximity to a new release

Re: Corel does not care about its customers
Hi. New to the forum but have been lurking quietly for a few weeks. I'm in a simular situation to above. Previously has VS x2 ultimate and moved to x5 ultimate last November only to find my old computer was too slow to run it. Meets the spec but just hangs all the time and some of the software wouldn't install. So I replaced my computer and got x5 running only to find out x6 is available. I would prefer x6 ultimate but don't like the upgrade price. Could someone tell me the email address to contact for UK home customers to contact to see if I could get a discount too?
Re: Corel does not care about its customers
Hippo Me thinks that Nov last year is a little outside the time frame that Corel would look at.. Pity

Re: Corel does not care about its customers
I was thinking the same. After buying a new computer because my old one wouldn't run all the sw I only got VS x5 working fully on the 2nd of march this year, with a new install which I had to register online. I would like to buy paint shop too. So hopefully they could help but I can't see an email contact for them. I guess they prefer phone contact?oz4me wrote:Hippo Me thinks that Nov last year is a little outside the time frame that Corel would look at.. Pity

That's the way it is in the software development world. Constant upgrades or they go out of business. Though they do allow you to use there products for free for 30 days.
If you wait long enough, the price usually comes down for the current version.
