Hey guys.
So I bought WinDVD Pro 11 just now and first of all I noticed that the product is digitally signed by some "Corel TW Corp.". Did a quick google search and it seems to be a subsidiary of Corel Corporation.. Fine.. Even though I must say that it is unusual for the product to be not signed by the main Corel certificate.
Ignoring my spidey alarm, then I started installing the application. And what does it do? It turns off my anti-virus (Windows 8 Defender) upon entering the serial number screen. WTF? What kind of garbage behavior is this? Any of you guys observe this on your side? I for sure know that it happens on this screen since I did the experiment 3 times.
As I didn't activate the s/w yet, and am thinking of asking for a refund. This is pretty noobish behavior by the application. I haven't seen an application in ages that messes with the security settings of the user just to install their application - and certainly without warning the user. Now, I am going to have to waste time doing a complete security scan b/c of this stupid software.

FWIW, you are the very first person -- at least as far as I can recall -- who has reported this... Mind you, I can't help you since I haven't used WinDVD for several versions... (which maybe says it all!!)
