Well I am new to this. I am using a Sony DCR-HC15E handycam. I downloaded the drivers for it from the internet but the computer still pops up a message to say it has found new hardware. So I don't know if the computer is recognising it or not. Now when I open the Ulead 9 the only capture source that shows, even in the list is ATI Rage Theater. I have ATI on the computer but have never seen this. It does not show any other capture source. I have read all the info on it and cannot find the answer.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is please.

Hi Red
How are you connecting the camera to the pc?
Through a Firewire.
Composite cables.
Or
S-video + audio cable.
If you are using Composite or S-video
Click the options cogwheel
Select / video and audio capture settings / source / composite/svideo
If your camera is digital, you are best capturing through a Firewire link to Dv-Avi.
You will then see the camera as a source.
Hope this Helps

Your camera only uses the USB interface for streaming video i.e. realtime playback on a streaming video player like Real Player. (And normally, unless it is called 'streaming media', streaming video does not carry audio.) Streaming video, moreover, is not of particularly high quality.
As Trevor has suggested, to actually capture high quality video suitable for editing and burning to DVD, you should buy a Firewire cable, ensure your computer has a Firewire card, and connect that to your camera's Firewire port. It certainly has one, though it will probably be called a (4 pin) i-link connection in your Sony manual. 'i-link' is Sony speak for a mini-Firewire port. Make sure, though, when you buy a cable that it has a 4 pin plug at one end and a 6 pin one at the other end for the computer.
