X6 install packs via do more tab problem

Hi,
I bought X6 ultimate as an upgrade from X5 and uninstall X5 prior to install X6.
In the Corel Guide of X6, "do more"tab I get new downloads but there are seen as VideoStudio Pro X5 and when installing them this is what I got:
"the installed version of the application could not be determined. The setup will now terminate".
The system has not been modified....""

I already tried these steps without success:
Clearing the temp files (my OS is W8) following the Corel guidelines, then reboot and
uninstalling and reinstalling studio X6.

I just noticed that only the menu packs and the title packs could not install.
Templates and fonts are OK.

If you had not uninstalled X5 first you could have just copied them form X5 to X6 - not possible now though - don't know what you can do now.


Perhaps a warning to other users not to un-install previous versions until you have X6 up and running properly .

I noticed the "Do More" in X6 showed that the Title packs were all installed but this was because of the X5 installation.
All you have to do is open X5 and go to the Titles page.
Place all the Titles that are missing in X6 onto the Video track and save the project.
Start up X6 and open the project you just saved from X5.
With the Titles page open in X6 drag all the Titles from the Video track up to the library.
Now you have them all in X6 as well as X5

Thanks a lot, I will try this but have to reinstall X5 first which means I think uninstall X6 first to reinstall after X5.
I let you all know.
I open a case with Corel. If I got an answer which works from them, I will post it here.

Have you an idea for the menu packs which also will not install?

Hi every one,
Reinstalling X5, then X6 and manually copying the missing menus from the content folder of X5 to the content folder of X6 did the trick.
But I find this update mode very unusual.

Meanwhile I got an answer from Corel:
_"Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Support.
To ensure that the issue was not caused by either a corrupted or incomplete installer, redownloading the installer is necessary. To avoid this same problem from occurring, kindly disable the following before downloading the installer:

• Pop-Up Blocker
• Anti-Spyware
• Anti-virus
• Firewall
• Other Applications that might be consuming your bandwidth "_

I will not once again uninstall and reinstall the whole thing. I don't think that my installer is corrupt. I reinstalled without problem but the menu and title packs 4 times already.

Another tip,
Export the library in X5 under setting/library.
Import the library in X6 under setting/library.
All the titles are now presents

Thanks for the info regarding the libraries, not been able to do that in the past, X5 and X6 is the only versions you can do, nice to know.

I will be installing X6 to Windows 7, if it works ok I will test the do-More downloads.

Titles, in the past title 1 to 4 were already installed, Titles 5, 6 and 7 etc would add 10 titles to the library, 10 for each that is.
There were two Menu templates which updated HD menus and DVD menu, not sure which was which.

Check the Gallery contents before installing the Menu packs, that way you will see the additions? Hopefully

Nice of Corel to extend their thanks………

I installed X6 to a new PC Windows 7, only X6 installed.
All Do More downloads for Instant Projects installed and populated the Library ok.
I have not as yet tested the downloads for Titles or Menus, but have no reason to think they will not work.
I then uninstalled X6 and installed X5, all Instant Projects populated ok.
The files being retained in the VSPTemplate folder.

There were some issues with some X5 templates.

Afaik the templates in this list are no longer available for download, however if you have downloaded using X5 they may/will be faulty. However we can recreate the Instant Projects, fixing them.

I will be downloading the menu and titles just to test those out.

If you are having a specific problem with an individual template, give us some details and we can test the download and installation.

Menu pack and menu pack 2 don't work for me either. Nor do the title packs. During install they flash up some messages that seem to indicate that they are for VS5, but nothing installs. They don't say where exactly they are installing to either so the files may well be on the system but who knows where. VS5 wasn't on that computer, so that isn't the issue.

After I close VS6 down, a little widow pops up as "messages" listing the ones that didnt install properly, with a small panel next to the message that allows you to click and reinstall, but nothing happens. So, these particular packs appear to be broken.

The downloads are saved to a Corel/Download folder.
For Windows 7 64 bit they are within C/ Program Data/Corel/Download

The Instant Projects will then install to
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate

Any template folder in this location will populate the library

The menu packs, increase the available Gallery when burning a DVD.
They are installed as UFO files here:-

C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Pro X6\Content\Menu Template

For W7 64 bit Program Files X86

Sorry not sure where the Title packs install to, I have never looked.
