Hi, I just upgraded to x6 from x5 and I'm trying to install x6. I had no issues installing x5, but when I try and install x6 I can get to the screen where it says it is configuring my DirectX and seems to hang there for a minute then stops and says no modifications have been made to my hard drive with -20 code below. Anyone know what this error means or how to get around it?
Thanks
Video Studio x6 install error -20

Re: Video Studio x6 install error -20
Ken, I'm not the OP, but my install of the trial hung at the "installing DirectX" message. I guess I didn't wait long enough to get an error message. I decided to turn off my anti-virus software, after which the installation proceeded.

Thanks Kingston for your own experience. Always useful. FWIW, though, when I installed -- though it took far longer than any of the previous versions -- I had no troubles...

Re: Video Studio x6 install error -20
My issue turned out to be a background program running. I went into task manager, found it, and shut it off. That and I had to shut my antivirus (Avast) off and it installed no problems after that.

Re: Video Studio x6 install error -20
I got the same problem, when installing Video Studio X6 after removing Video Studio X5 trial version.
The installation process did not go further than modifying DarectX (with a lot of HDD activity). But different from whiskeyportal's experience, I got errorcode -9.
I disabled Real-Time Protection in Ad-Aware Antivirus, but this did not help.
If a background program is causing problems, how could i find out which one?
Anything else I could do?

Unfortunately, none of us here are Corel employees, and we have no real idea what those error code numbers mean. It's also difficult to say which background program might be causing a conflict without your just going through them one by one.
You could, however, also try establishing a new User profile in Windows, and switch to that log-on. Then try installing under that Profile. If it works, you can then delete the new profile and VS should continue to work.
I am assuming you have full Admin privileges on your computer...
