Need Help Capturing Video

Post by bequadro »

I am new to Video Studio. I have used other programs that have had a lot of problems from update to update and their tech support is not good either. I am liking Video Studio 9 so far. The problem that I am having is that I get this message "Failed to build a preview graph" everytime I try to capture video. I am capturing video with a panasonic dv - dvc203 digital camera. I am using firewire. Am I doing something wrong or has this been a problem with Video Studio 9.

Are there any suggestions for other capturing software that will just get the video off the camera so that I can edit it in video studio 9. I am getting very frustrated with this. My old program that I have been using has also stop working. There are no drivers for the camera it is just plug n play.

I need help.

Hi Nick,

If other programs also fail in capturing I dont believe there is something wrong with VideoStudio but with your Hardware or its drivers. I suggest you try to connect your camera to another PC with a firewire card to make sure there is nothing wrong with your camera. For that you can use WinDV to quickly make a capture, its a free and very basic capture program.

Do you have DirectX 9 and compatible video drivers installed?

I am pretty sure I am running Directx 9 and I do believe that all my video drivers are installed.

I will try digging some more on this, but it is starting to become very frustrating.

Since you have not given any details of your system spec's, any advice given can only be of a general nature. Did you install any of the ULEAD patches for your version of VS? If not, you can get them here: http://www.asiapac.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm

Sorry,

My Machine is a

Centrino Moblie 1.70 Ghz (735)
XP Pro
512 Mb Ram
60 gig hard drive
Ati Hydravision 9600

I am not running the full version. I only got the demo, so that I could see if the video captured. I has worked on this computer before.

I don't use video studio but I know that there were issues with the type of message you get with other versions of VS. Check the ULEAD web site for a patch.

Which capture plugin are you using? If it is the Microsoft one, switch to the TI one and try again.
