I have to beg the differ. Most companies provide free support or at least a place to report an issue. Even puny Facebook apps companies give it for free, even for non-paying users, and a user value there is less than $5 (trust me on this one).
If buying cheap means paying a lot for support later, I'll prefer paying a little more when I purchase a product and knowing that someone is taking responsibility for what they sell.

I'll probably switch to the competitors. I know of a "few" that still give free support...
