Probably because it wouldn't really be XP-compatible (by market-share) if it was 64-bit. Most people that still use XP (and many people that use Vista) have the 32-bit version of the OS.
I don't think he was asking for it to be *only* a 64 bit version. He wants there to be one available for those that want it. A lot of Windows applications offer you the choice when downloading.
JStanley wrote:Don't worry. Support ends for XP in 2014...
That doesn't mean that XP stops running. It just means that Microsoft will stop releasing regular updates for it. It'll still get super-critical security fixes, but pretty much everything else stops. No new drivers, applications, bugfixes etc. I've got a couple of XP virtual machines that I'll certainly keep using.

Sorry. It was not meant to be a snarky comment.

What I meant to say was that while Windows 7 (mostly 64-bit) covers 44.55% market share, Windows XP (mostly 32-bit) still covers 38.99% market share.

That being said, I agree with you, dd4oo5. It would be nice to have both 32-bit and 64-bit download/install options avalable, much like Corel has for AfterShot Pro (although I only see 64-bit versions available for Linux Debian distros).

Albeit, this would require a complete recompilation and distribution of all executables, dlls, codecs, etc. for compatibility in a 64-bit environment.

1) Standarise/unify User interface accross different special effects / tools.
For example with Customise motion you can double click to add a key frame but not with other tools (which makes it difficult when you get into a habit to use the tool the way and you can't do it with other interfaces).

2) Quicker playback. Also, and I m sorry to say that, it would be nice to improve speed of playback after pressing play. I know it's a lot of processing but for me it's very important as I am quite pedantic and like to play and double check each edit a few times if the cut with audio is joined ok.

3) More control over prcise positon of elements on the screen. For example if I could right click on the screen and be able to align or specify exact position. (also I get annoyed when I want copy centralised title and after changing text it doesn't stay centralised but for example stays more on the left if the line is shorter or more on the right when longer but maybe it's my lack of knowledge still)

Use the Alignment tool once you have the text box highlighted. This will re-centre the text.

A couple of library enhancements:

1) Provide the ability right click on a clip in the open project and locate it in the library (currently you can right click the project clip to locate it on the computer, but not in the library).

2) Put a check mark or something on the clips in the library that are in the open project (when copying down lots of clips from the library to the project, it is not easy to tell what clips have been loaded into the project).

You can see these functions work very nicely in Pinnacle.

May I second this, Both suggestions would be very useful in VS. I found the check mark particularly useful.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

I just confirmed the "feature" in VSPro X6 [works same in X5] with Corel Premium Support that I would like changed

Here is the setup:
- drop library Video in the main video track
- drop two .JPG photos in overlay-1 track
- place a transition between the .JPG photos

- play the project

Notice that the WIPE transition impacts the entire preview window

SUGGESTION: the transition should only impact the overlay items connected with the transition.

Thanks, Jim

I'd like to have a MY FAVORITES category on the GALLERY dropdown list box within FX like we already have on the Title and Transition GALLERY dropdown.

My VSProX6 project has a video track with a .JPG photo in the first overlay track.

The photo comes in with eight (8) resizing handles [shown in left of below image]

Then I add the FX Video Pan & Zoom effect to the overlay photo so I can zoom into the 3 faces.

VSPx6 currently has only four resizing handles - shown at right

This causes the aspect ratio of the zoom to remain constant to the original photo [portrait orientation rectangle]

I would like to have eight (8) resizing handles on the FX so I could Pan & Zoom to a small landscape rectangle to capture just the 3 faces as I have shown on the image at the right.

Couple small (I think) wishes.

When I moved clips, can I see where the end of the clip is as well as the beginning? When I'm editing, sometimes I want to know where the clip ends relative to something on another track.

Please make this modern Windows compatible. I've moved my Videos folder to another drive for space, but the imports still use the c:\User\xx\videos folder.

When I'm editing audio, moving sound levels, Can I see where the sound marker is on other tracks? Trying to line this up relative to part of a clip requires guessing. Also it's annoying to use the mouse to try and get the level right. I have some set levels for sections, like -15, but the resolution for that marker isn't always possible with a mouse. Can I enter a number or use arrows to move the levels up or down.

If any of these exist and I've missed them, my apologies, and I'd love a reference.

Re your first problem, in Preferences > General, have you set Clip Display Mode to 'Thumbnails Only'? This should do what you want.

Re your second problem, just above the Clip Display Mode is a window where you set your working folder. Have you changed that to the folder where you want your files to go?

Steve - if you mean you want to see more of the timeline so that you can see the full length of a clip then look just above the right hand end of the timeline where you will see a slider and a '+' and '-' button they will expand or contract the timeline.

alternatively why not just scroll the whole timeline to the left until you come to the the of the clip and you will then also see what's in the other tracks.

I haven't explained myself well.

Thumbnails only doesn't help. When I move a clip in the timeline, I get a vertical bar at the beginning that lets me know where this clip lines up relative to other clips in the timeline. This is when I show the details of the timeline.

I have set the working folder to e:\video. I still get imports on c:\users\xx\videos

Thanks for the response. I do know about the zoom in/out, and that is helpful, but there are times I'm trying to line up the end of a clip with the middle of another. I am making guesses and using trial and error since I don't have a relative marker. I have one for the beginning of a clip as I move it, but not the end.
