Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
I posted my wishlist in a feedback - bug report list on a separate thread . This is my wishlist, and I will refrain from buying your product until these fixes are in. These can all be fixed in one day for you, so it's nothing huge.

This is not our product and nobody here will fix anything. We are just users like you.lyom wrote:I posted my wishlist in a feedback - bug report list on a separate thread that still needs to be approved. So where is your "wishlist"?
If you think, "bugs" can be fixed in a day then you are dreaming!

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
Wishlist items (taken from this unresolved thread)
1. The preference "Show message when inserting first video clip into timeline" should show a message when you insert your first video clip into timeline, currently it doesn't.
2. When saving ("sharing") a video, the "Same as First Video Clip" project preference should be overridden (as implied by the name of the option).
I'm currently forced to give up on my X6 trial and hope that when X7 arrives, it's useable (because X5 and X6 aren't if you can't save a video in it's original format).

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
Corel videostudio pro x6 lag behind very much in comparison to powerdirector 11 and it will further go behind once powerdirector 12 is released and with new features most probably it will added like pop-up menu, multiple audio and smart rendering of other 3d mvc recorded material and authoring which corel missed and was having an opportunity in launching x6.

Thanks for that suggestion irfan65, I was unaware of powerdirector. I'm going to trial that right nowirfan65 wrote:Corel videostudio pro x6 lag behind very much in comparison to powerdirector 11 and it will further go behind once powerdirector 12 is released and with new features most probably it will added like pop-up menu, multiple audio and smart rendering of other 3d mvc recorded material and authoring which corel missed and was having an opportunity in launching x6.

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
For X7 how about a capture section that actually works! Also put in a Stop function for the preview screen while it plays (mine constantly repeats the preview while I'm trying to do other stuff). Add cropping on the main timeline that will allow different image sizes to be resized without having to save them first. Most other editors (even the simple VideoPad) have this. I'll think of more I'm sure.

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
Your comments are ambiguous. The "Capture" section works fine both for capturing via Firewire and from files from an SD card.Polkat wrote:For X7 how about a capture section that actually works! I use the space bar to stop and start the video in the Preview window. (see keyboard shortcuts)
I also crop and stretch video clips in the main timeline without problems. I either "cut" the clip or shorten by speeding it up. This is a standard option in most editors, for example cropping from either end of the clip is available in Pinnacle Studio as it is in VS.
It is necessary to undestand how to use VideoStudio before commenting on what is wrong. When I had VS X5 I struggled with the control of the editing. Fortunately, with the help of this Forum, the operation of VS became more obvious.
If I have a criticsm of VS it is that many operations are not obvious at first glance and the Corel User Manual is very poor in explaining. This is why so many third party books have good sales.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
It doesn't work with video capture (VFW) cards. Also, you don't "capture" from an SD card, that's file copying/importing.Terfyn wrote:The "Capture" section works fine both for capturing via Firewire and from files from an SD card.Polkat wrote:For X7 how about a capture section that actually works!

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
I am well aware that it is file importing, I never said I capture files!. I use the "Capture" section to import the files I want. You have said it yourself, there will be a way to import from VFW cards then you can import the files to VS in the usual way. This does not mean that the "Capture" section does not work as claimed by Polkat.
If you don't like VS why not try another editing package. I moved from Pinnacle Studio because of the problems it gave me.
Find one you like and stick with it.
If I have a criticism of Corel it is that they do not actively involve themselves with this Forum. When I had Pinnacle Studio the Pinnacle Systems Forum had two (maybe more) active members of the Avid programming team involved with the questions and complaints. Often they took the problem away to sort it before replying. IMO Corel should play a more active part in the problem solving process.
We can criticise but we do not know what is in the program design team minds. They will have very different priorities to us. An interface to the Corel team would improve both the program and our use of it.

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
The annoying thing is, I love VS. I was trialing the X5 version for two weeks and thought it to be awesome. It's way better than the others I've tried.Terfyn wrote:If you don't like VS why not try another editing package.
My only problem is that I can't save a file in the same format it arrived in, and that's a deal-breaker. I'm just waiting for someone to hopefully answer this here thread and I'll be sold on VS X6.
I've downloaded cyberlink powerdirector but haven't had time to try it yet.

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
Yes, I fully understand the softwares capabilities. Also when I say crop, I don't mean trimming the clips at the ends on the timeline! I mean cropping the sizes of the files, such as cutting down a 16:9 clip to 4:3, or visa versa. Learn the terms before you criticize! And no, getting images and clips off an SD or other card is not capturing!! What I meant was video clip capturing, and no again, not all capturing is of DV footage. I shoot a lot of chroma key, so I prefer to shoot analog video for that. I capture with USB capture devices of which I have several. VS will recognize them but won't capture from any of them!
I stand on my points!

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
Changing a video frame from 16:9 to 4:3 is called "changing the aspect ratio", cropping is changing the length of a clip.Polkat wrote:Yes, I fully understand the softwares capabilities. VS captures analogue video. the problem could be with your analogue to USB converter. (see other posts on this - for example

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
Probably because it wouldn't really be XP-compatible (by market-share) if it was 64-bit. Most people that still use XP (and many people that use Vista) have the 32-bit version of the OS.RobertOZ wrote:Please make X7 64bit, why on earth is X6 still 32 bit
Don't worry. Support ends for XP in 2014...

Is there any particular reason why you can't just click the stop button when you are done looking at the preview?Polkat wrote:For X7 how about a capture section that actually works!
