VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
As always when a new version is released we provide a topic in which your wishes for the next version can be posted.
This allows us to direct any visiting Corel development staff to just one topic to see what users want rather than wading through a few hundred posts.
A lot of the wishes for X6 have not been added so here's your chance to add them again.

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
I don't know if this feature is already included in new versions of Corel VideoStudio X5 Professional but it would be perfect if one could use third party rendering codecs. Not only the Ulead codec.

My perenial request is that they update the authoring module to allow use of bit rates higher than 20 Mbps when using H.264
And allow the use of third part codecs, or at least open up the options on the codecs they do have.

Support for this videos codecs.
http://www.4shared.com/zip/sO1jGN8e/TV_Sample.html
Sony and Cyberlink can edit it with no problems, yet no version of VideoStudio can - X6 still can't do it -.
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=47364
I will probably have to switch to CyberLink PowerDirector 11 unless this is fixed.

I'm afraid I am unwilling to try to install the file from that link. Though it is called a zip file, in fact it downloads as an .exe file. Moreover, my eset antivirus suite says it contains something dangerous. All the other download buttons on that site are for unwanted programs.
So can you give us any better or safer information about exactly what format the video has...? You could, for instance, download a free and small program called GSpot and point it at a video clip. It will give information about its format and the codec used.

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
Perhaps for X7 Corel could go back to a printed instruction manual. My X6 came with the .pdf version which takes up the same screen as VS Pro X6. I don't fancy printing all 244 pages. A minor request but nice to have.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
Allmost no software comes with a printed manual these days. It is usually a pdf file to reduce costs.

We don't have to accept the situation - do we? A "rising by the masses" for the printed user manual should do the trick.Natal wrote:Allmost no software comes with a printed manual these days. It is usually a pdf file to reduce costs.
Or do we wait for the mass of training manuals from Amazon?

Thanks Ken, it's one of those free sites trying to make a buck by using an .exe linked to the file so that they can install ads.
I wouldn't bother downloading the file because it's just another TV capture file of a problem that you tried to fix for me in the past.
There's nothing we can do to fix it on this end, because the problem is not with us, it's VideoStudio that has the fault.
Sony Vegas had the problem until I installed QuickTime, and Cyberlink probably works fine because it installs QT automatically. But even with QT installed, VideoStudio renders faulty sound.
I was hoping Corel monitor this forum, and would do something about it, but it doesn't look like they are that interested.

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
Hello,
It would be great if they upgrade little the MENU AUTHORING part to support multiple AUDIO TRACK AND multiple SUBTITLE TRACK like DVD WORKSHOP 2.
Do you have any idea if Corel thinks of such an upgrade?

None of us here work for Corel. We are users like you who volunteer their time to help others users out. So we have no more idea than you about what Corel's plans for future versions might be. I agree, though, that it is about time the burning/authoring module in VS needs a bit of upgrading.

Wow, now I know why this forum is here.Ken Berry wrote:None of us here work for Corel. We are users like you who volunteer their time to help others users out. I tried to get support from Corel directly, and found out there is absolutely no support unless you pay for it, or have bought the product within 90 days. It's pretty ridiculous that I have to pay for a program, that I know is faulty, first, and hope they will fix it after the fact.
I'm going to put a call out on the board for anyone who has bought VideoStudio within 90 days, that can help by being a proxy with Corel, or I'm going to change to Cyberlink PowerDirector - which is a better program in most tasks any way -.

A proper 64 bit application has got to be top of my list too for X7, if I don't end up trying another product after X6.

Re: VideoStudio Pro - Wishlist for Version X7
I suspect a number of this forum's members have/use at least 1 other video editor than VS. Unless you buy the high end software all the others are certainly cheap enuf.
I've had the displeasure of trying a number of them and they all have their quirks.
At least Corel provides a fully functional demo, which some others do not.
Since much of the marketplace expects software to be free, I'm surprised any of the companies want to develop new software. Unless thousands are sold, $50 bux a copy doesn't generate the $ required to support the staff required to develop a superb app.
You could buy Sony Movie Studio Platinum (64bit) right after Chrismas from Amazon for $49.00.
Vegas Video 12 Pro you can buy for $100 when you buy a new Pana AC90 camcorder.
So, where's the $ being made?
