Recommendation for better software than VS?

Post by Brain Champagne »

Okay, I've spent a week and a half editing a video that should've taken no more than half a day, because VS is terrible. (and I'm a big WordPerfect fan, nothing against Corel in general, but VS sucks ducks)

I give up.

I realize that people here are mostly VS fans, but the software has proven to be horrible and I do not want to waste any more time with it- there is no reason that I can create a video file that's what I want, and then use VS to create a DVD that isn't what I just saw on screen. Re-editing clips to include more than I want, guessing how much VS will cut off when I burn a DVD, is not my idea of fun.

Does anybody have a recommendation for other video editing software that does what it's supposed to do? Everybody I know that uses Apple software seems happy with it, but the prospect of spending $1000+ to buy a different computer just to edit video is a bit much. So I'm going to have to stick with Windows (7) software.

I'm open to suggestions. Also, can any non-Corel software read a VSP file? Or do I have to set the clips up all over again? My videos tend to be 10-20 minutes long and a dozen or two clips, with some titles and transitions, nothing fancy.

It appears your problems are with DVD creation, and not necessarily with editing and making your story using VS. If I interpret this correctly, then you should post in here some precise descriptions of the issues you are having so some help from the experts here may get you more satisfied with VS.
