Possible DVD Menu bug? (Start position)

Post by MikeA »

I have been using the nine chapter thumbnail DVD menu template. I saw that the start position for each thumbnail could be manually adjusted. So, taking some time, I adjusted each of the nine thumbnails to a suitable frame of the corresponding clip. It worked fine as long as I burned the DVD immediately afterwards. However, if I closed the menu dialogue, all clips reverted to frame 1. Surely the positions should be saved as are all of the other edits one does to a menu. Not only was this frustrating, it means that one cannot go back and easily burn another DVD from the same project. A bug?

Did you manually save the project after closing the burning module? Or did you rely on the message which says the project is being saved? If the latter, then none of us here knows what is saved or where. But you have to save the project manually to save the settings.

If you close the menu dialogue box, all of the start positions disappear. You can actually see them revert to frame 1. This despite the saving message that appears. You can't save the project without closing the menu dialogue window, and so you lose the settings anyway. I'm not sure what happens if you save after burning a DVD. I imagine one can't leave the project without saving after burning, but I'm not sure about that.

Just checked it out. After burning one has to close the menu dialogue window. I then manually saved the project. i then went back to the DVD creation stage. And the starting points were not saved. Seems like a bug to me. Basically, closing the dialogue window saves the info on edits done but not the starting positions.

Hi Mike

You are referring to setting the displayed frame on the thumbnail but for Chapter Points, not for Titles.

Yes there is an issue with this and was posted some time ago, you can actually see the thumbnails revert to black as you close the window.

Ok

If you open Video Studio—immediately do Share Create Disc—the burner module opens
Now add your project file the VSP, I assume you have already set the chapter points.
If you now set the display frame they will remain, unfortunately not for the first clip.
I think that works, will have to run a few tests, but, I do not know why this approach improves things, certainly there is an issue?
