PLS advise: how to multi-edit while shifting audio

Post by rcurzon »

I have the same task to do over and over, and have yet to find a groove doing it over a few weeks , using VS8.

I need to take an automatically captured file, split the audio, shift it 7-12 frames, then save maybe 5 segments of 3 minutes each at random locations throughtout an hour's capture.

I capture in MPEG vid, LPCM audio if that makes any diff, for later burning as compliant DVD.

My goal is to save each segment with consistent characteristics, with the same audio shift, in the most direct way possible.

I keep finding myself with the splits disappearing, a segment saved without any audio, inconsistent settings etc.

Must be somebody who does the same and has it boiled to a sequence like the opening message rules of thumb! I'd appreciate your advice...

thx

Hi
Are you saying you want to create 5 video clips at 3 minutes long with out of sync’ audio?
Or are you trying to correct an out of sync’ audio problem?

OK

1 / Using your full video clip--split audio.
2 / move the audio clip 12 frames
3 / Share Create Video File / same as project settings
You now have a second video clip with out of sync’ audio.
Place this new clip in new project.

4 / Using the scissors cut the video into pieces 3 mins long sections.
5 / Drag each 3 minute clip to the library you now have a copy of the cut clips.
6 / Either select a clip in the timeline or library and save trimmed video from the ‘clip menu’
or start a new project inserting one clip / share create video file / same as project settings.

That's exactly the problem, thanks for the reply Trevor.

However since I do it over and over, I was hoping to do it in 1 manual pass

I.e. rather than shifting audio and saving first, and then splitting and saving again, I'd hoped to do both at once. 8) (what I meant by "most direct way possible", could have said it more plainly!)

Can you advise a way to do it in one pass, or are there "issues" you can tell me??

I will see if I can do the scissors trick after splitting, but I think that's where I ran into the "clips with no audio" problem.

(( If I'd only known how much time it would take to figure this out ... )) :(
