I am recording from a Sony cam recorder. The Video jumps and stops as I am capturing it to the program. This just happened recently, I have never had any problems before like this before. I have replaced the Sony Cam recorder with another and it still jumps. I have gone to versions 7,8,9 and they all do the same thing. Is there a video setting I am missing that I may have change by accident? Would it be the Video driver? I am able t copy capture a video normally but this is very apparent when I am capturing something like a wedding with music and dancing going on. The video will jump then stop and then continue. Will work smooth sometimes for 10 seconds and also for 2 min. It will then jump at random.
Thanks
Using Video Studio 9 or 8 or 7

Bring up Task Manager and check the CPU utilization -- if it is pegged at 100%, that's why the capture stutters. Programs like antivirus and spyware utilities can take a toll on the system, as do things like the Windows 2000/XP Disk Indexing Service, or the MSN Desktop Search Indexer.
Does the captured video play back normally, or does it stutter as well?

Ulead program jumps when transfering to computer
I did bring up the task Manager and it does get pegged at 100% the memory is low however. I have 512 and only using up 350. The computer usage is at 100% I do notice that it is running high when I am on line at times…
Need a program to get any junk off the system. Do you have any ideals of how to clean it up.
The camera has to be digital to use Ulead Video studio. I do capture DV and I tried the other way but no different.

Dan,
Many people recommend EndItAll2 to shut down most processes/programs prior to working with Video Studio or any other NLE. I have used it, but don't anymore, but only because I don't have any problems with Video Studio without using it.
Also, just to clarify, you can capture an analog source into Video Studio either using dedicated hardware or the passthrough of a digital camcorder. Of course, the video once captured is in digital form. The above poster was asking whether or not your source was analog or digital.

My guess is that you picked up some spyware/malware somewhere along the way. Try downloading LavaSoft's Ad-Aware and McAfee's Stinger -- both are free programs. Symantec also has a free online security risk scanner, which includes a comprehensive virus scan.
It could also be something more benign, such as Folding@Home which was bundled with some versions of the Google Toolbar, or MSN's Desktop Search.
