Problems with IPhone 4 Videos

Post by edrizz »

After I transfer iPhone 4 videos (Quicktkime .MOV) to my computer, I can load them into the Corel Library without a problem, but if I try to play one of the clips, I get fine audio but with a black picture. If I drag one of the videos into the project and then play the project, I get video, but it is choppy. These .MOV videos play fine in other programs that I play them on. Any suggetions?

Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed? Some users, however -- for some unknown reason -- have trouble with the latest versions of QT and have to roll back to the version which used to be installed with earlier versions of VS. But that of course upsets things if you also have use iTunes, which requires the latest version of QT...

Yes,I have the latest. I guess I could go out and un-install and see if I can find an old version to load. Do you know the latest version that works?

It was 7.6. But have a look at this thread which discusses the problem, and suggests another possible solution towards the end of the thread... http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 74#p236574

I think iPhone, Samsung,... produce variable framerate video(VFR). Corel VS is not happy with VFR. Could you render the timeline and get smooth video then? Could you send the MediaInfo of yr videofile?

I downloaded a free video converter (Freemake Video Converter) and convered the iPhone .MOV to MPEG. Then, I loaded the MPEG into Corel and it worked fine. I don't like having to through the extra step, but it worked. Hopefully Corel will be able to handle the iPhone better in their next release.
