Will Corel ever release a new version of ASP

Post by jknights »

I think that Corel need to show some good faith with customers of AfterShot Pro.

There have been no new releases of ASP with improved functionality or features for nearly a year.
There have been no new camera RAW support added in over a year.

I guess like all Corel products they seem to wither and die!! Or am I being harsh?.
Still learning after all these years!

1.1..0.30 was released 2 months ago, but added support only for a few cameras that were released before original Bible team was fired.

Exactly my point.
We have not had a RAW support update since March 2012 of any real meaning!!

ASP is dying on it's feet.

Corel has a reputation to buy dying product and to give them just a little piece of life (see Xerox, or WordPerfect, ...) but some of those product are less sensible to the time. You still can use a old version of WordPerfect without being annoyed, licenses can be also sold, money can enter in the pocket of Corel... ASP rely on camera which are in constant evolution. If corel do not release anything, in a couple of month who will be buy some licenses for a product which doesn't support their camera? I am really afraid that ASP will be killed quicker than the others.

I'm sure the moment Corel does release a new version (or if they do for the cynics among us) that someone will be complaining that now they have to pay to buy the new version.

I have just bought a new camera. A Canon 5DIII that was announced March 2012. It is supported.

For me the question is : Beta testers, currently testing?

(it's a yes/no question - no need to provide details)

oh, I am happy to pay for an update. I seem to do so every year or so for PSP.

Like bananahead, I don't terribly mind paying for an upgrade. It's no different to having my boiler maintained, well maybe a higher percentage of the original purchase price. But I'd really really rather not have to learn to be as good at another RAW developer as I am at ASP.

There has been much conjecture/ speculation / fear, over the past few months.
Just a thought maybe the next update might be "Corel Photo Ninja Pro" :D

Yes I agree :D It's just that I work with a lot of Americans (and other people with poor English) and quite a lot don't understand.

ROTFL

This morning is getting better and better (just been asked for a price quotation for the use of my images from a recent concert for a CD cover).
