AVCHD 1440 x 1080p and 1440 x 1080

Post by Bimbing »

In VS X4 Create Video File there are several AVCHD settings.
I would appreciate if someone would explain what the difference is between AVCHD 1440 x 1080P and AVCHD 1440 x 1080 ?
With and without "P"?
Thanks.

Hi Bimbing

In a word Interlacing, most video can use interlacing.
The “P” indicates a Progressive frame, that is a single image to represent the frame. Aka Frame Based
Not having the P would indicate interlacing, a Field Order, either upper or lower field.
For HD types this would be Upper Field.

Select Share Create video File-Avchd—choose an option, the save window opens
Now view the details in the lower panel, these indicate the properties to be used for the render.

Which order to use, the basic rule is to retain the field order used in your original video file.
Right click one of your video files and select properties, what are they?
If it does not indicate Upper / Lower Field then its “P” progressive.

Some video may indicate Frame Based, again is P

This is the first time that my raw footages are .mts files. That's why I have many questions. Your explanation is very helpful. Now I know which option to select for rendering. Thank you.

Hi Bimbing

When you do Share Create Video file, if the option “ Same as First Clip is available, then that will use your video files properties.
In most cases that would be the best option, unless you wish to change them.

After you Share Create Video File, the save window shows the properties to be used in the lower panel,
I always view this just to make sure it is doing the right thing, or at least that i have selected the correct option.
