Hi everyone,
With VS X4 I edited my .mts files into .vsp files. Then successfully created video files (.m2t 1440 x 1080 files) . I selected 1440 x 1080 because it is the setting set on my camcorder.
My question is in the Create disc step:
1. if I burn these .m2t files and select "DVD" would the resolution be back to that of .mpg in the final DVD?
2. If I burn these .m2t files and select "AVCHD" and instead of burning directly onto a disk, placed it on a hard drive folder. Then later could I burn it on a regular DVD disk? If that is the case, is the disk playable on a regular DVD player? Or, do I have to burn it on Blue Ray?
I know I could experiment it but my project has 4 Titles, each of about 30 min duration, that I want to burn. I tried to find the answer on the Forum and also in the Manual but could not find the answer there.
I would appreciate any suggestion and help. Thank you.
Burn DVD of .m2t files

Hi Bimbing
1 / Yes if you choose Share Create Disc -- DVD will create a standard DVD, Your video files will be converted during the burning process using the properties set under the Settings Cogwheel.
2 / If you burn the AVCHD files to standard disc this is known as a hybrid disc.
That is combining HD video to a standard DVD disc, you can use your standard DVD CD burner to burn these discs, however you need a Bluray Player to play these discs.
Given that you have 4 projects at 30 minutes duration, that’s 2 hours of video.
A standard DVD will hold 60 minutes at full quality.
You may be best to render the project to avchd using the original properties saving them on the hard drive for future use. You will then be able to view the files size and estimate if it will fit to disc.
In the meantime you could also render to DVD format to burn the disc
I assume you do not have a Bluray Burner nor Bluray Player?

You are right I do not have a BluRay burner nor a BluRay player.
Just one clarification re: "In the meantime you could also render to DVD format to burn the disc":
1. Do you mean to render my .mst file to DVD and burn to disc or
2. burn my .m2t rendered video file using the DVD option to disc .
I now understand the several consequences when selectiong the Create Disc options. I appreciated your advise and explanation very much.
Thanks, Trevor.

Re: Burn DVD of .m2t files
Hi Bimbing
1 / First you save the original projects in HD to use at a later date, when you have upgraded to a Bluray Burner and Player
2 / If you purchase a Bluray Player, you could burn a hybrid DVD, that uses HD files to burn to disc using your existing burner, then are able to play them using the new player.
3 / Down convert the HD to standard DVD to burn a disc that will play on your existing DVD Player.
Until you purchase a Bluray Player, option 3 is the only way to play your movie on TV.

With 3/ above, are you saying that the original .mst file be rendered using the DVD option to .mpg first and then burn as usual OR downgrade the already rendered .m2t files and burn using the DVD option?
