Hi,
I'm trying to improve a photo by selecting an area to work on. I've tried different selection tools (lasso and freehand). When I draw, for example with the freehand, I can draw the line around what I want to work on, but when I let go of the mouse button after joining the ends, the selection disappears.
I'm probably missing something rather simple and basic but it's frustrating.

You most probably have the tool set to Replacesandaholm wrote:Hi,

I use the Selection Tool with the attached settings.
Hold the Alt key when you are using it, it will give more control as you can 'draw' with it.
To get straight lines, hold the Shift key and click from one point to another.

Re: Newby question about selection
Thanks, I got it to work! Now, once I've made the changes how do I turn off the selections?

Hit A on your keyboard, that will get you back to the Pan Tool (the hand).
There is no 'un-tick' for any tool, clicking on another is all you need to do.

Well worth the time, although not up to date for X5, but most things work the same.
Corel hasn't changed PSP much since acquiring it.
