Opening images created by older versions with PSPx5

Post by jtfotofellow »

When I try to use PSPx5 to open .psp images created with older versions of PSP, I get the message that they can't be opened. What's wrong?

With PSPX5, I can successfully open all types of images created with previous versions of PSP, including legacy .psp and .tub files.

Perhaps more information about the error message, the version of PSP originally used to create the images, and any additional information you could provide would help forum members find a solution to your particular problem. Screenshots of error messages are especially helpful...

The error message window says: Unable to open file. Please verify that the file is valid.

I believe the history of the file is a scan from a transparency, opened and processed in PSP version 4 (I believe; perhaps an earlier version) and saved as .psp.

I don't think I have any more info. Thanks for the reply.

Perhaps the latest versions of PSP can only open files going back as far as PSP5 when Layers were first introduced.

Can you post the file somewhere? I'm sure one of us has an older version that can open the file and get it back to you.

I've got PSP5 installed and would be willing to test one of your files.
