old versions and Win 8

Post by Dizzie »

I installed PSP X in Windows 7 64 bit and it runs fine.
It won't even install in Windows 8 64 bit. Anyone have any luck with older versions in Windows 8?

I have Windows XP and resisted upgrading to Windows Vista (have heard of so many problems with that - it was a change in procedures for Microsoft and as we have seen so many updates and service packs for XP I doubted whether Microsoft could get it right first time for Vista).
XP from what I have read is being supported til 2015 and Windows 7 til 2020. I have no wish to upgrade to Windows 8 but will eventually consider Windows 9 ( and hopefully they will have worked out bugs and fixed compatibility issues.

PSP 8, X2, X3, X4, and X5 all run OK for me on XP and Windows 7.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

You can only work out so many compatibility issues before you make it as bad as it used to be.

And XP support ends April 8th, 2014.

I have version X4 and it would install, but not run under Win 8 64 bit. Thankfully after applying the service packs it does run. Do you know how to try running the install in compatibility mode and/or as administrator? Sometimes those help with old programs.
