Files just went missing
Okay something just happened. I have been saving a project in a separate folder and it would place it there as uvs130219-001.mpg. It would save three different file. One is the uvs file, another is a .upd file and the last is the .vsp file. Now all of a sudden it is no longer doing this. All it saves there is the .vsp file and not the others. I have tried search and it finds it nowhere. It has to be there somewhere because I can close out the project and then open it up and the clip will be there. Anyone know where the file is going?

A mpg file is not created when you save a project but only the vsp file . The mpg file is only created when you select "create video file"
I don't know what the the uvs and upd files are, have never paid any attention to them)

if you open up your project and then RIGHT click over the video in the timeline, towards the bottom of the pop-out is the option "locate on computer" - click on that and the folder containing the file will open.
have you changed any setting in Windows controls recently - like setting "hide files with known extensions" or similar.

Okay did that and it shows the file as being in that directory except that it does not show up in windows explorer. I do not think I changed anything in windows. If I click on the properties of the file it does not show it as being hidden or read only I am running windows 7 so do not know where I would find a hide files with this extension.

Hi
When you right click a clip and choose “Locate on Computer” a window opens, that window is using “windows explorer”
Are you saying that you cannot see the files within this window?
Your profile shows you using XP, can we assume this is old details and you are running Windows 7.
Can you update your profile, in particular are you using 32 or 64 bit processing.
Just out of interest are you able to add a JPEG type image to the library?

Re: Files just went missing
Got it figured out. For some reason it has been putting the clip file in a different folder then the project file. As I said it was putting all the files in the one folder and for some reason started splitting them. I must have changed something so will have to go back and see what is up. Have up dated the profile. The hard drive crashed and had to replace it. When I tried to clone the drive it was unworkable so just went ahead and upgraded to windows 7. I am only using 32 bit since a lot of my programs are older and may or may not run on 64 bit. I can put a jpeg in the folder. Thanks for the assistance.
