Post by DjokoSan »

Hi,

I have problem with PSP X5 SP2 update.....on 8% of installation I received the message: Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'PSPPro.msi' in the box bellow....

My PSP X5 is upgrade version downloaded from Corel WEB store...(15.1.0.10)

Sorry for my English :)

Maybe the file you are using is corrupt.
Try re-downloading Service Pack 2 from here:

http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=5000003

then install manually.

I've got the same problem; I purchased PSP X5 via the website and now can't update because PSPPro.msi can't be found. I've copied the setup folder that the downloaded installer creates, but PSPPro.msi is nowhere to be found. Downloading the service pack for manual installation makes no difference.

Any other suggestions?

Hi

I do not own PSP X5 but most Corel products require the Service Packs to be installed in order.
Have you installed Service Pack 1

In addition if you try to install the patches again you will receive an error reading something like “cannot install, your files have not been changed”
Would be better to read “files already installed”

I'm afraid I do have SP1 installed. Apparently not the issue, sadly.

Solution for the problem (I had it too):

• Run your ORIGINAL (!) Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X5 setup once. Just run it & leave it open.
• Go to your temporary files (Start > Run > %temp%) and locate the folder named "Corel PaintShop Pro X5".
• Copy this folder to any decided place. You need it later.
• Now close the ORIGINAL Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X5 setup, you'd opened before.
• Run "PSPX5_SP2.exe" now and wait for the error.
• Now, chose from this message the folder, you'd copied before.
• Go to "[PLACEWHEREYOUDCOPIEDTHEFOLDERTO]\Corel PaintShop Pro X5\15.0.0.1\Setup\" and chose the wanted "PSPPro.msi"

Congratulations: You now successfully upgraded your Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X5. What a pain.

Yes, i only registered to share the solution. @COREL: Don't you mind, it's your part to support your app, instead of me or other users? We goddamn paid for it.

Oh dear :-(

This is a User to User Web Board, Corel don't appear here very often, if ever.

If nothing works.

Uninstall X5 and install trial which has already latest service pack in it (SP2). Don't worry your activation will stay uchanged.

Doesn't matter. My statement went directly to them. Not only, Paintshop is gone slower and slower - no. They were not able to simply fix this issue since ages. It's not only an issue of X5, ya know? I'm just a bit "pissed" about, that customers won't get any official & competent help.
