Hello there,
Using VS PRO X5 for my sins. Havent actually gotten around to really using this yet but I do have a question for you..
I have been asked to stick onto a CD-ROM a PDF file ( a hobby of a friend who tarts up Parish books etc..so theres pages of text and a few graphics of family history..yawn..putting myself too sleep here...)
So..can I load this PDF FILE into VIDEOSTUDIO and 'somehow'? simply create a cd-rom so it can be played in a computer.
IDEALLY..i would of liked the ability to mess about a little with the way the pdf file looks..using VS..but i suppose theres no way of doing that.....able to add some music too it? No?
Be happy to just create a cd-rom...BUT...can I put in a blank dvd instead and burn pdf to that?? and if so...will that be ok to do? play in a computer..unlikely anyone is gonna want to view this on a tv..scrolling down page to page of family names etc..( in which case , if it was to be viewed on a telly i would naturally use the odd fancy fade in button etc to bring it too life a little. )
Im complicating things..basically..can i burn a pdf in VSX5 onto a blank dvd..and / or a cd-rom? If so..any best way of doing this?
Thanks for your time and hopefully help.

NO - you cannot import a PDF file into VideoStudio - a pdf file is not a video format it is a special image type document and VideoStudio cannot handle that type of document - I do not know of any video editor that will import pdf's.
If you just want the pdf file on a disc you do not need any software programme to do that - all Windows versions have the software built in to do that
the only way you could do what you want in VideoStudio is to make an individual image of each page - possibly by using the "Take a snapshot' option in your PDF reader and capture that as a jpeg - then put the individual images into VideoStudio and essentially make a slideshow which you could then burn to a DVD - doing that you could add music and the video would automatically run through all the pages,
you cannot copy protect any DVDs burnt in any 'domestic' grade video editor such as VideoStudio - you need quite an expensive commercial programme

Re: BURNING A PDF FILE IN VSX5??
As always thanks for the reply and knowledge.
Ok, well that clears that up then. Last question then...clearly CD-ROM is the way to go in this case so no need for VS...can you simply tell me please....Can I burn this pdf file to a blank dvd and or blurray?
Just, i have loads of blank dvds etc..but I don't have any CD-ROMS.. I know only a few quid..but can you tell me...does it matter where I burn it too?
Bear in mind that this will be used simply for information purposes..so would be used to view on a PC only. DVD be ok? or are CD-ROMS better for this type of thing? Ideally wanted a Printable cd-rom..cant seem to see any of those..which again is why im looking at using my printeable blank cd-roms.
THANKS AGAIN.

Re: BURNING A PDF FILE IN VSX5??
Since all you would be creating is a data disc it doesn't matter if it is CD or DVD. Of course it would be a big waste of a DVD if your were to only copy a few small files to a DVD.
BTW, you cannot burn anything to a CD-ROM (ROM=Read Only Memory). Writable CDs are: CD-R, CD+R or (for rewritable) CD+RW CD-RW
