Plain backround needed when authoring DVDs

Post by Quayth »

I'm using VideoStudio proX5. Previous versions of the VS program have allowed me to opt out of using a preset image template for the menu pages and instead to choose a background image of my own to put behind page headings and video thumbnails or text titles. I can't see how to do this in VSproX5. Any background image I introduce is always partly covered by unwanted areas of template and the right-click menus won't let me delete or move them to the back. I just want a plain uniform background and to be able to choose the coolur. Can anyone help, please?

Exactly the same as in previous versions - if there is something on the template you do not want then right click over it and choose "hide object" or on some menus you might have to choose "set transparency" and set it to 99.

what menu template are you starting with and what exactly do you want to end with.

I am not sure exactly what your after but I found it very easy to do this :--

Thanks for that very prompt reply, and for the information on how to do it. I'd been struggling all day before I wrote the query, and then had one last go at dragging one of the objects offscreen (using a different template that time) and it worked! I must have been unlucky with the template that I chose the first time around. But I felt sure that in one of the earlier versions of the program (VS7 or 8?) choosing your own jpeg or bitmap image as a full-screen background was a direct menu option. Anyway, thanks again.

Choosing your own background image (or video) for a menu template is still a menu option under the 'Edit' tab in X5 as well.

see if this helps :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMDId9qnVV0

Thanks again Brian, that Youtube tutorial on DVD menus in VideoStudio covers a lot of other aspects of authoring that I haven't yet tried using. Being on video, it will be realy useful as it only shows the steps that work, and quite often nowadays when I finally get something to run properly after lots of false starts, I can't remember exactly what it was I did to get it right.
