I tried to install VS X5 trial on Windows 8 64-bit. The installation starts normally. After licence confirmation and selecting the options the installation proceeds until a page is shown that says: Your system has not been changed, try again later and there is a seperate line containing "-20".
The last thing I saw on the status line before the error page is shown was something like: Installing DirectX.
Any suggestions?
VS X5 Installation ends with "-20"

Hi andreasnagel
And welcome to the forums
Sorry to hear you are having problems installing Video Studio, unfortunately I do not have Windows 8
You do not say whether you are installing from a Disc or download file.
If from disc, try copying the content to your hard drive and install from there.
How to manually install from the disc/Bad disc
However I did a further search the Corel Knowledge base and found some details regarding installing in safe mode.

Re: VS X5 Installation ends with "-20"
Hi Trevor,
thanks for your answer. I tried to install the trial that I have downloaded.
I also tried to install from Windows 8 safe mode with no success: The installer is not able to use the windows installer service.
Any other ideas?
Regards,
Andreas

Re: VS X5 Installation ends with "-20"
Finally, I managed it. These are the steps:
- Start the installation
Proceed until error (do not quit the installer)
Copy the folder "Corel VideoStudio Pro X5" from the temp folder to any other location
Quit the installer
Open the subfolder "15.0.0.001" in the previously copied folder
Edit the file setup.xml an delete the two lines containing "DXNov2007"
Start "setup.exe" from the same folder
