Installing Local Help PSP X4

Post by bfollett »

I downloaded the local install of the Help for PSP X4 and when I run it. An installer starts and looks to be decompressing/installing but when that dialog box closes a second installer start ups. This looks like the main installer of the program itself and it pops up a message that "no update to your installed software is required at this time" and then closes the installer. I then try bring up help from within PSP, but it still brings up the web based help. Any Ideas?

Local help is still browser based.

If PSP detects an internet connection it'll try to open up the website through your default browser.

If PSP does not detect an internet connection it will attempt to open the local files inside of Internet Explorer. So they both open up in a web browser.

If this does not happen automatically, some have reported that it doesn't always work like it's supposed to, you can access these files yourself. It's in a weird location. I'd have to look for it.

You can also download the PDF version of the manual - http://apps.corel.com/lp/pspx4/05707/us ... pProX4.pdf

I tested to see if the local help got installed by disabling my internet connection before trying to bring up the help and I got an error page in internet explorer that the page couldn't be accessed, so it was trying to go to the web help. Thanks for the link to the pdf file, but I would like to try getting the local help working.

Thanks,

Bob

The help file start page should be located at:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X4\Languages\EN\Help\wwhelp\wwhimpl\js\html\wwhelp.htm

Look and see if it's there.

I checked the file location you mentioned and the files did get installed there, so the program itself doesn't seem accessing them correctly for some reason.

Thanks,
