I've been using Bibble since v 4 and really like it. However, after adding a Pen EPL5 to my kit, I've been forced to look elsewhere (just deciding now between DxO and LR4). There's not a lot that these packages do that ASP won't - except for two very important things:

a) regular updates (esp new camera support)
b) a product vision/roadmap that we can believe in

What the hell are Corel up to? Releases that remove functionality? - that must be an act of desperation and empty heads. So sad...

Actually there's a third thing LR does: support previous process versions! Having jumped from B4 to B5 to ASP, and having being using B5-ASP as DAMs, I can seriously appreciate not having to open an old program (which will overwrite XMPs, so f***ing retard what they did to XMPs going from B5 to ASP ) to go back to an old picture.

Good for me I grew so unsatisfied with ASP in the past year that I didn't port any old picture from B5 and spent most of my editing time on metadata, so the only difference with importing a B5 picture in ASP or in LR is losing cropping.

Oh, there's actually a fourth things other programs do that ASP won't: corrupt metadata every single time you mispell them. This alone makes up for ASP workflow advantages :?

It was nice working on B5 betas, which were a much better sw than LR 3 (despite the bugs) and I'll miss the possibility of running it under Linux, although I switched almost completely to OSX… Time to move on.

Version 1.1.1.10 is the new version you get when you purchase ASP. NN is not included as posted.

Here's the instructions for the download with license number notification.

Note: If you installed a trial before February 11th, 2013, please install an updated version by clicking on the download link below.

Version 1.1.1.10 is now the 'Trial' available for download from the North American Corel Sites. The trial link on European pages is not working at present. :?

As AFX observed this version does not have the licenced version of NN.

Predictably there is no changelog in the application, most files appear to be dated May/June 2012.

As of this moment the full version including NN is still available on the Updates page.
As to the backward compatabilty of a 'New Purchase' licence I cannot comment.
If you do not have the installers for the earlier version this might be a good time to download them!

Hello,

Well, I would rather say that this version doesn't mention any NN version at all! I just installed it, and NN isn't there anymore into the Standard menu!
It doesn't matter for me as I don't use it - I'd even say it's rather good news -, but I hope it will be available as a plugin for all those who did pay for the licence or those who would like to evaluate the free version.
That said, I just played a few minutes with 1.1.1.10 and couldn't notice any improvement nor regression.

Regards,

J.L.

No regression seems the most you get from Corel.

Maybe Corel is just limiting the Trial version to prevent loss of unlicesned revenue?

Nope.
The deal with Picturecode expired and they just silently drop NN without replacement.

Then they are hurting for cash and this should be a very clear sign that ASP is going to die...

Hmm, or maybe Picturecode does not want their technology in a competing product. After all, they now have a raw converter, previously they had only noise reduction.

Guess what is more likely. Especially considering that PictureCode also stopped selling NN licenses.

cheers

Indeed, Andreas, and if rumours about the Sony A58's imminent announcement are true, then some new cameras like the A57 will go out of production without ever having been supported. From the product manager's point of view, of course, this keeps the list of unsupported cameras shorter LMAO (but really  on behalf of the A57 owners).

Apparently. I believe a new one got the job last autumn.

Now; if the company has management problems, it usually has problems with visions, internal work morale and so on. Recognizing that, and doing something with it, takes time.

So if Corel does have problems, it could take some time before they sort it out enough to give an new decent version of ASP.

This new version is the ultimate insult to customers, who have been waiting for an update but will now get a new version that is actually a stripped down version of the same code.

Obviously, they didn't even re-build the code. Strong sign that no development is going on. I am afraid that ASP is going to die.
