VS5 - Missing Settings for other than NTSC & PAL

Post by Julianna1990 »

Hello, I hope someone can please help me. I have been a user of previous versions of VS...but my last version was VS12 because I didn't like version 3 or 4. Finally I am trying Pro X5 on a trial. I completed a project in Pro X5 but now I want to save it out to my computer. The problem is that when I want to save it I am missing my compression options. My standard procedure was to go --> Share --> Save File --> Custom --> Options --> Compression and I could choose from 8 different Media Types...Now, in Pro X5 I only get 2 compression types...NTSC and PAL...What is going on?? Am I missing something?!

Here are some screenshots...

Version X5:

I have them both currently installed at the moment. Obviously, only running one at a time :)

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!

the first thing to note is that DVD produces mpeg-2 files, so you have that option - also I don't think anyone uses mpeg-1 these days or makes VCD so those are un-necessary and therefore not included in X5.

BUT - what you are missing is back one stage - after you click "Share >> Create Video File >> Custom" the 'create video file option' opens - towards the bottom of that under the slot where you enter the file name is a drop down labelled "Save as type" - use the little down arrow to open that and select a different type - .avi, mp4, .wmv, etc etc - selecting a different type there will give you a different set of compressions when you go to the options window.

Thank you for your reply. The new version does a very good job transferring my HD footage to DVD. The difference is that I had to go through an extra burn-to-file process...But this makes the outcome very clear! Thanks for your help.
