cannot add more than one file at a time to palette

Post by sgraham »

I'm on Windows 7 (both home and Pro workstations). I cannot pick more than one file and insert to video palette. I can insert individually. This is for all file types (.mov, .wmv., etc). It inserts the files as "uvs100215-004.mpg" "uvs100215-002.mpg" but when I hit 'OK' it says 'unable to find file'. This used to work. I have tried to remove the quotations, insert period, semi colon to no avail. Anybody else have this problem? I am in VS4. Thanks for any help.

From where are you "inserting" the files? From the media library or the folder directly?

Why would it insert mov or wmv files as mpg files? I don't understand exactly what you are doing?

If I am inserting multiple files from either the library window within VS or from a folder somewhere in Windows, I highlight the first video in the series I want to open in the VS timeline, then click the Shift key and go to the last one in the series and hover the mouse over it. All the intervening icons should then light up in light blue. Then I right click over the first video in the series and select Copy. Then I go to the VS timeline and righ click and select Paste. All the selected videos should then appear in the timeline in the right order and regardless of their extensions.

And if you only want to select non-continuous clips from a series, use the Ctrl key instead of Shift above, and the rest remains the same.

sorry to not be specific enough. in VS in the library right click and insert media files then browse to files and highlight more than one. usually when I hit the ok all of them add to library but now I get file not found error. when i highlight a number of them it puts the entry in the Browse Media box on the filename like this; "00089.MTS" "00083.MTS" "00084.MTS" "00085.MTS" "00086.MTS" "00087.MTS" "00088.MTS"

I think there may be a typo here... You say you highlight the files in the VS library and then they don't open in the library window. Can we assume the second reference is to the timeline???

And if that is so, then are the original video clips still in the same place on your computer as they were when you first inserted their thumbnails in the library window?

physical files are not moved. they never get inserted to the library. highlight multiple and file not found error. can go and pick them one at a time but it is tedious sometimes i have 30 files to put on the library (the tab to insert them and then pull them down to time line - i called it the pallette. where you add the media files (or whatever files..in this case I am trying to add video files)

It sounds a bit to me as though you have a faulty file in there somewhere - when you try importing multiple files and get that error message can you then import EVERY file individually.

just as an addition - it is not essential to put files in the library before adding them to the timeline - you can RIGHT click over the timeline and use the "Insert Video" command to put them straight in the timeline.

not a problem with the files. happens to any of the movie files. I have many. cannot add multiple files to library or timeline directly. I think it is how it is inserting them all on the file line (in the insert dialogue box) but have not figured out a fix

Seems a strange goings on…….

Have you installed the service packs for VS X4
http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=1100002

Can you fill in your profile to include your PC specification.?

OK
You can reset the program to its default settings this will also reset the library.
If you need the library as set, first export the library, Settings Library Manager.

Resetting VideoStudio Pro X4 to Factory Defaults

I also have some issues running X5 with W7 64 bit, maybe VS X4 is the same?
First try inserting a Jpeg image file, do you have problems. If no then its probably ok

I have to run the program in XP compatibility mode, right click the VS4 icon on the desktop and select properties- Compatibility tab.
Try running the program again
You can always deselect XP compatibility mode.
