&Freehand Selection error popping up started today

Post by DWPenner »

Nature of the problem: After quite a while of problem free operation (other than operator errors  ) today I ran across two problems that I am not sure are related. I started seeing an error message pop-up:

&Freehand Selection

And in addition a Paint Shop Pro image ( *.pspimage ) I was working on wouldn't save. It would go through the entire preparation and then when the progress bar disappeared a few moments later I would get a message saying there was an error:

An error has occurred while trying to save the image.

I have noted while preparing this topic that the &Freehand Selection error has popped up a number of times... I assume with each attempt to autosave.

Properties of your source files (format, file size, where did you get it?): I created this pspimage file on PSP X5 15.2.0.12 35.010 Mbytes memory used 1200x1200 RGB 8 bits/channel

What devices are involved and their mode of connection? Only the Toshiba laptop, Dynex cordless mouse, and WiFi connection to the Internet. 1 jpg texture file and a jpg background in addition to text. Before photo and graphic editing.

Project Properties ? Just trying to save the pspimage file before exporting a png file to publish online.

Output format Exported PNG file

Error Codes (if any)

&Freehand Selection

and

An error has occurred while trying to save the image.

I had an earlier version saved of course, but could salvage the graphic by copying each later to a new file. I started by copying the background layer, then pasting as new image followed by copying each layer in turn and pasting new layer.

I saved after pasting each layer. No problem with the new resurrection of the file. Though the &Freehand Selection pop up.. popped up. Work got done, thanks to saving work regularly... I've been in IT since the 70's.... you learn after a while.

Let me know what you think. I didn't want to close and restart until I had a safe copy of the image as I can't save the image I was working on.

Thanks. Perhaps your enlightenment might help others if there is an alternate solution?

Sincerely
DWPenner
