Re: VideoStudio Crashing
Are you rendering direct from a .vsp in the timeline straight through to a ISO file - a number of people have problems doing that, it seems to throw VS in to a bit of a wobbly.
If that is what you are doing try breaking it down a bit - first render your .vsp project file to a DVD compatible mpeg2 video. - then when you open the create disc module make sure you delete the video already in the timeline there and use the import media icons to make sure you import the brand new mpeg2 you have just made and create your ISO from that.
works for many users and worth a try.

It would also be useful to know exactly which of the more than 800 formats which call themselves .avi you are using. Please right click on one of the avi clips in the VS timeline or library window, and copy ALL its Properties here.
To expand just a little on Brian's advice, to produce that DVD-compatible mpeg-2 he mentioned, first select Share > Create Video File > DVD and NOT Share > Create Disc > DVD. Then when that new mpeg-2 has been created, you can then select Share > Create Disc > DVD and proceed as he outlined.

Re: VideoStudio Crashing
Thanks Gentlemen, I have just done exactly what you asked...first an mpeg file, and then render again to an iso file and this time it`s worked ? I will now burn a dvd from this.
can`t understand how to copy properties from the right click, but here is some info:
Microsoft AVI files / 25,000 frames sec /835.86kbps/dv video encoder type 2 / 24 bits 720x576 4.3 / pcm compression
Hope there is enough information here !

Re: VideoStudio Crashing
In the now somewhat distant past, earlier versions of Video Studio gave some users problems when they had DV/AVI type 2 encoder video. Those versions seemed to prefer Type 1 encoder DV. So that could be one partial explanation for the problem you have been having.
If you think about the process, you did your edits then jumped straight to "burning" an ISO file (or the equivalent of a disc). Video Studio would then have to take your project file, and as part of the burning process -- which is already complicated enough without a conversion being included -- then convert the DV to a DVD-compatible mpeg-2. Add the extra potential complication of a Type 2 conversion, and it might just have been the straw that broke the camel's back.
As Brian already said, in such circumstances many of us find it better to keep things simple and step by step. And that means in this case first converting the DV to mpeg-2. Then you open the burning module and insert that mpeg-2 for burning (whether to an ISO or actual disc). And best of all, apart from reducing the potential stress on the computer of too many things at once, the overall time taken is almost identical. Again if you think about it, the time taken to produce the mpeg-2 in the editing module can now be deleted from the time to 'burn' the ISO file as no further conversion will now be necessary in the burning process...

Re: VideoStudio Crashing
Very Interesting, thanks for this input again.
I have just burned the disc now from the iso file and that also seems ok, so i will follow this work process in future !

Believe me, that's what quite a few of us old timers have done from the start...

Re: VideoStudio Crashing
Ken, can I ask.......would the same apply to avchd files which I often edit, and then go straight to making a bdmv folder or is this a different issue ?

Re: VideoStudio Crashing
Our suggested workflow applies to all video formats, so yes, it would include your AVCHD projects too. But just bear in mind that if you already jump into the burning module directly after editing, and the burn works, then continue to use that workflow. But if it doesn't work, then just remember our workflow as a possible alternative and solution.
