VideoStudio X4 Snapshot not working

Post by pberndt »

I work for a school district that uses VideoStudio X4 in their High School lab. We are in a Windows Domain where each student logs in using their own user ID and password to a Windows XP Pro computer. When a Student logs in and uses VideoStudio, Take a Snapshot does not work. If I log in as an Administrator that feature works. So there is a file permissions issue - but I can not find which file/folder I need to give the students rights to. I have given the Corel folder in the Programs folder Modify rights. I also have given the Corel folder in the All Users | Documents and Settings | Application Data (hidden) folder Modify rights. Neither change has worked.

Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks.

just to be clear - we are not on a network - this is just a single standalone computer ?

when you take a snapshot the resulting file is put in the currently specified working folder - if the students have a working file where their videos are saved to then I can think of no reason why a snapshot should not go there - is the specified working folder for the students the same as yours.

The default working folder is :- C:\Users\username\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0\ but has one of your students modified that in preferences.

you say snapshot does not work - does that mean the option is greyed out or that you can select it but there is no apparent output - have you tried searching the computer for any odd .jpg or .bmp files - depending on what you specified in Preferences.
