I have a nasty sound sync issue which appears when I burn MPEG file on DVD. The same problem occurs whether I burn directly from MSP7 (SP3) or if I use DVDW2 (with latest SP installed). I have been working on this project for months and never had this problem before. MPEG file itself does not have this problem.
I have several (3) sound tracks in a project which is 42 minutes long. Only one of the tracks seems to have this problem. The sound is about 1 sec out of sync.
This has occurred at a time when I have just recently noticed two other problems, and I suspect they could be related. The other two problems are:
1) My computer's DVD reader is unable to read DVD's! I have tried it with several different software including Media Player, several Intervideo products, Interactual Player. This applies also to commercial DVDs. Media Player, for instance, shows a message "unknown DVD". I never had this problem before.
2) If I open an MPEG file (which is on my hard drive) in Media Player, I get a message saying "error downloading codec". The after some time the MPG file does start playing, and seems to be playing ok. No audio sync problem.
But I get this message on all MPEG files, even the ones created long time before this problem appeared. So I don't think the file itself is corrupt.
The MPEG file is aout 2,5 G, so plenty of room on the DVD.
I used to use (without any problems at all) the following settings creating MPEG files:
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: 8000 kbps
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
Audio format: MPEG
For burning I used setting:
Burning speed Max
After the problem occured I have tried burning at slower speeds and I have reduced the data rate to 6000. I have tried both one and two pass encoding. But to no avail.
Most of the audio editing I have done recently has been adding .waw files to a voice-over track. They seem to be in sync ok.
Have I somehow lost a codec from my computer? Could this have occurred when I deinstalled (and reinstalled) Interactual Player?
Could this be the reason for my audio sync problem? If so, how come only one sound track is affected? Should I download a media Player codec from Microsoft site? I have version 10, but the latest codec available is version 9. Does MPlayer 10 use version 9 codec? Should I try other than MPEG audio format?
I have checked al the numerous audio sync isues on this forum. But none of them seem to provide the answer for my case. Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!

DVD audio out of sync !!

I solved the problems! Just in case anyone ever has anything similar:
The "audio out of sync" problem was caused by corrupt MPEG files created by MSP7 (patch 3). It took me a while to discover this as the sync problem did not appear when playing on my computer, it only appeared after demultiplexing/multiplexing process that takes palce when creating DVD. But then I saw that I could burn without problems MPEG files I had created some weeks earlier, and that files I now created had audio out of sync even when burnt with WinDVD (i.e. non-Ulead burner). I thus knew the problem occured during MPEG rendering in MSP7.
I deinstalled MSP and reinstalled it with patch 3. And now the audio sync problem is gone!
The othe two issues I had (DVD drive not being able to show image on WMP and the codec error message on WMP) seemed to be related NVIDIA driver. Reinstalling the latest version of NVIDIA driver solved those two problems.
Both MSP7 and NVIDIA had apparently been disturbed by some other installation I had done recently. But I am not sure which...
