Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 hangs...?

Hello all

Help is needed... I have had PSP X3 for a few years now with no issues at all.

All of a sudden when I try to open it now it shows me a splash screen and then nothing... it just hangs. The windows "whirligig" icon judders as opposed to being smooth when I scroll over the splash screen... therefore it must either be crashing or failing to initialise.

Also the splash screen over lays itself over every other program just like the Task Manager window would...

I have reinstalled it
It is a legit copy from Corel
All service packs applied
I have stared using shift so as to factory reset
I have created another user account to see if that was the issue

Please can anybody advise?

I don't know if this is the case here but I have seen this behavior when there is an open dialog box waiting for a response from you that is covered by the splash screen. Try scrolling through any open windows by using Alt + Tab to see if this is the case.

Thank you for the response, I have tried that but it is hanging... my PC tells me that the below is the issue.

Not sure what to do about this?

I have downloaded and ran PsP X5 demo and it works without an issue?

i too have been using paintshop photo pro x3 for years on my old computer. i downloaded it onto my new computer. i am running windows 8 64 bit. it downloaded alright and i installed all the updates. but now it hangs at the initializing command manager. and it stays on top of all windows i have open. i close all windows and still it hangs.i tried uninstall and reinstall it and still it hangs.
