Unless I am not understanding your question, you can simply get the clip on the timeline to the point you wish to split it and click on split video. This will separate the clip into two sections. Repeat the process for the amount of splits required and then save the individual clips to file and process a movie for each clip separately.
Now using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop

You're now going to learn the usefulness of the Library.

Get the whole clip on your Timeline. Say you plan to make 4 separate DVDs, each with approx 3GB of .MPEG2-format video on it.

Find the three places you need to cut your original clip (3 cuts to create 4 pieces, right?). Cut there (using the scissors icon).

Now, to enjoy the full ease of this, switch to Storyboard view: You will see your original clip now as four separate clips on the Storyboard. Drag the last 3 up to the Library (to the right of the preview window). When you are sure they're there, delete those same three from your Storyboard -- click on them and hit Delete. The Library will retain these clips for use as long as the original big clip is on your hard drive.

Now "Share > Create Video File" and continue with making a DVD from the 1st clip.

When you're all done, start Project 2 and drag the 2nd clip from the Library down to your Storyboard or Timeline. And so on.
